TV Licensing - Scam email

Post by Leisure » Fri Aug 14, 2020 5:45 pm

Just a heads up that a scam email supposedly from TV Licensing is circulating saying that your last Direct Debit payment has failed and that you need to re-set your details otherwise your licence will expire. The email does look genuine. The TV Licensing people have just confirmed to me that it is a scam and that if you receive one you should just delete it and not click onto any part of it.

It's not new - I've been getting them for months but always to the old CM email address. Strangely got one today.

Same here. Received tons of these emails. And PayPal related ones. And more recently Netflix.

Had at least 1 per month for past 12 months now Leisure. Some saying your DD has failed and others say you are due a refund.

The clues are:
1/. They never seem to know my name. Instead they address me as per my email address which isn't the same.
2/. The email address it comes from does not look official.
3/. If you pay by direct debit, TV Licensing already have your bank details. So if I am due a refund just get on with it.
Interestingly the refund never comes.

Probably why I got it! Although I prefer to consider myself as a senior citizen! :)

Had TV, car tax and income tax scams sent to me but ignored them all cos I get away without paying any form of tax, but don't tell anyone. 😁
