City v Lyon

This certainly won't be a cakewalk for City, Lyon have already shown in the past couple of seasons that they're more than capable of giving Pep's team problems.

Foden misses out as Eric Garcia comes in, and Fernandinho moves into midfield, this shows how seriously Pep is taking this tie, he'll know this is a great chance to finally lift the CL at City, and if they don't win it this year you have to wonder if they'll ever win it.

Whoever does emerge from this tie will face the small matter of a rampant Bayern in the last 4, but it's just a case of getting through tonight first and foremost, then you can think about stopping the Bayern juggernaut.

Ref is a shocker already(10mins) given City 4 advantages where they would have been better placed with the FK.

To balance up he booked a Lyons player and then left De Bruyne off for a similar offence.

City could be in trouble now. This is exactly the same as so many of their poor league defeats. Gone behind against a massed defence and tikky takky not enough. Sadly lacking a big man option up front.

Half time 1-0 Lyon, fingers crossed hoping Lyon can upset the 'plastic Citeh'. Sterling's giving Lyons' right side defence some problems, Lyons' goalie looks shaky, don't think I've seen him catch a ball, likes to punch it out.

Surely City have to throw Foden and Mahrez on they are struggling to create anything with the personnel on the pitch right now.

They don't want to be humiliated by Bayern in the semi.

Not quite Barcelona v Bayern is it?

Think City need to get David Silva or Foden on.

Football doesn't work that way though, just because Bayern brushed Barca aside it doesn't mean they've won the trophy, especially over one-off games anything can happen on the day.

City's best chance looks like a set-piece, because they're creating little in open play. And so far Lyon deserve their lead.

You just knew who would score the goal if they equalised and he has - Kevin de Bruyne

Game on KDB to the rescue again, credit to Sterling for the assist, now who's got the desire to win this in normal time.

City caught out again playing a high line. Why?
They have no need to take the risk against these.

Yeah, surely the player that was definitely offside touched it before it reached Dembele!

An ex Celtic striker could have just knocked City out of the CL, makes Jesus miss even more important, this is why City can't progress deep in this competition their defence is caught napping again, that was a poor goal to concede at any level let alone in a game of this magnitude.

Quite surprised the majority wanted City to lose. But it must be generations.

Back in the 90s, we wanted whoever was supporting the top league to win. So guess the ones wanting City to lose are the teens.

Doubt he’d want to they have a poor squad and no money.
Paper talk this morning was that Xavi is being lined up by a candidate for next years Barca presidential election. Whoever gets Xavi on their ticket will win.
This could cause problems this year as many possibilities will know the situation and might steer clear.

City have totally switched off at the back, they got a lifeline from De Bruyne, and they've just thrown it away.

Allons enfants de la Patrie
Le jour de gloire est arrivé !
Contre nous de la tyrannie
L'étendard sanglant est levé
Entendez-vous dans nos campagnes
Mugir ces féroces soldats?
Ils viennent jusque dans vos bras.
Égorger vos fils, vos compagnes!
Aux armes citoyens
Formez vos bataillons
Marchons, marchons
Qu'un sang impur
Abreuve nos sillons
Que veut cette horde d'esclaves
De traßtres, de rois conjurés?
Pour qui ces ignobles entraves
Ces fers dÚs longtemps préparés?
Français, pour nous, ah! quel outrage
Quels transports il doit exciter?
C'est nous qu'on ose méditer
De rendre Ă  l'antique esclavage!
Quoi ces cohortes Ă©trangĂšres!
Feraient la loi dans nos foyers!
Quoi! ces phalanges mercenaires
Terrasseraient nos fils guerriers!
Grand Dieu! par des mains enchaßnées
Nos fronts sous le joug se ploieraient
De vils despotes deviendraient
Les maßtres des destinées.
Tremblez, tyrans et vous perfides
L'opprobre de tous les partis
Tremblez! vos projets parricides
Vont enfin recevoir leurs prix!
Tout est soldat pour vous combattre
S'ils tombent, nos jeunes héros
La France en produit de nouveaux,
Contre vous tout prĂȘts Ă  se battre.
Français, en guerriers magnanimes
Portez ou retenez vos coups!
Épargnez ces tristes victimes
À regret s'armant contre nous
Mais ces despotes sanguinaires
Mais ces complices de Bouillé
Tous ces tigres qui, sans pitié
DĂ©chirent le sein de leur mĂšre!
Nous entrerons dans la carriĂšre
Quand nos aßnés n'y seront plus
Nous y trouverons leur poussiĂšre
Et la trace de leurs vertus
Bien moins jaloux de leur survivre
Que de partager leur cercueil
Nous aurons le sublime orgueil
De les venger ou de les suivre!
Amour sacré de la Patrie
Conduis, soutiens nos bras vengeurs
Liberté, Liberté chérie
Combats avec tes défenseurs!
Sous nos drapeaux, que la victoire
Accoure Ă  tes mĂąles accents
Que tes ennemis expirants
Voient ton triomphe et notre gloire!

I was always the same. Always rooted for the English side be it Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool or Arsenal. I think the difference now is more that we have a personal dislike for so many of these teams having played against them for a good number of years. Going back 15 years we were so far removed from these clubs that it was hard to have a strong dislike.
