Turf Moor Cameras
How better would the Turf look on TV if the main camera was on the Bob Lord side. I know it's probably difficult to get a good vantage point with the height of the Bob Lord and a temporary scaffold like some teams use would he very cheap and tacky but surely there's something we could do ?
I wonder if the club have ever thought about this ? It would show our more atmospheric and modern stand. I bet people who watch on TV think Turf Moor is a morgue seeing the fans in the Bob Lord.
Also imagine if the dugouts was in the James Hargreaves. I always think Coyle got lucky on his return to Turf Moor the atmosphere that night was hostile and one of the best at Turf Moor iv ever been involved in. He got off lightly having the Bob Lord behind him.

Re: Turf Moor Cameras
Aye, I must apologise for those of us that are dying in the Bob Lord stand. We no longer have passion for the club and should be banned from attending, mind you, if the current situation continues, you will get your wish because we will be banned. Perhaps they could then move the cameras in order to show a third full Turf devoid of any old fans and also move the dugouts across the park so that those who were present on that side could throw the odd bottle at someone, as has been known.TommyJohnson wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 11:11 amHow better would the Turf look on TV if the main camera was on the Bob Lord side. It would be like the old days.
One positive. The sun would be orientated behind the tv cameras.

Best that our fans behave towards opposition managers and players in view of cameras.

We may be Oldies but we are also Goldies and certainly no fair weather supporters. Many a time we have left with sodden blankets even when it has been fine, but then that is what age and a well used prostate does for you.

The view of the Bob Lord stand and the hills and chimneys behind is one of the best views in football.

A temporary scaffold? Have you seen the broadcasting requirements in the Premier League?

I have friends in Australia who adore seeing their hometown and the surrounding hills during a match. It does look rather splendid on a sunny day.

Re: Turf Moor Cameras
With the amount of media trucks parked behind the JH stand, there wouldn't be the space to relocate them behind the Bob Lord.
Add to that the media points located within the JH stand, it would never happen

Re: Turf Moor Cameras
I understand your point about showing the more atmospheric part of the stadium, but for what benefit?
One of the best features of Turf Moor is that view from high up in the James Hargreaves overlooking the Bob Lord, the BFC flag waving high above the backdrop of an industrial mill town and the rolling hills behind. That's the part of our identify that isn't shared with the 19 other teams in this league. That's what should be and is shown to the world.

The Bob Lord's roof support posts would get in the way too..

Couldn't agree more, as it is people know straight away where they are and who's at home ..... Swap the cameras and you could be at any number of identikit grounds around the Country ....SalisburyClaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 12:08 pmThe view of the Bob Lord stand and the hills and chimneys behind is one of the best views in football.

Aye. I have wondered if its a requirement that the main camera point is also the viewpoint of the comms and even reporting teams?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 12:09 pmA temporary scaffold? Have you seen the broadcasting requirements in the Premier League?

Re: Turf Moor Cameras
I was about to post the same. I’m sure there’s some anomalies but it is surely preferable for the media and commentators to see the action from the same side of the cameras.ZizkovClaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 1:18 pmAye. I don't know about the whole media being in one place but the platform for television is now some size at the back of the Longside.ZizkovClaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 1:18 pmAye. We did film from the Bob Lord side some years ago, cameras behind the directors box but we've moved on a long way from those days.
Re: Turf Moor Cameras
Unless the cameras were pointing towards the left hand side of the Longside, as you look at it from the Bob Lord, they’d see very little difference.
Looking across from the Bob Lord to the Longside, it hardly comes across as Burnley’s version of ‘The Yellow Wall’.

Agree wholeheartedly but listening to some of the commentary and punditry I've often wondered if they not only have the same view but were even watching the same match!

Re: Turf Moor Cameras
Many people admire the view over the top of the BLS, I heard one radio commentator last week saying it was the finest view in football.
I can understand from a football perspective that the Longside would be a much better back drop, but let's enjoy the positives we have.

Re: Turf Moor Cameras
During one of the few seasons I’ve been in the Bob Lord we had seats just behind the rows that were cleared for tv commentators. These were the days before live league football (early 80s I think) and for one match covered by Granada for their Sunday afternoon highlights show we were sat directly behind Gerald Sinstadt and Denis Law. It was fascinating to watch them at work and even better we could look over their shoulder and see action replays on their monitor. We could also see that at half time one of the cameramen was zooming in on every bedroom window he could see!ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 1:35 pmI don't know about the whole media being in one place but the platform for television is now some size at the back of the Longside.

Do you remember the game in 1994 when ITV put the commentary box on the Bee Hole end for the game against Sheffield United. I think it was Elton Welsby & Lou Macari in there.
Re: Turf Moor Cameras
Keep it as it is. The view is lovely. Quite popular amongst commentators too. A number have said it's their favourite ground to commentate at and unique in that you get that view, the game and even pan the camera out to the cricket being played next door. Don't get that at any of the other stadiums.

Best solution to make ground look more modern is to rebuild the Bob Lord.

There are 2 camera gantry positions in the Bob Lord now if the TV companies choose to used them.
One bottom corner nearest CF and the other in the corner stand next to BL.

I sit quite close to the TV crews, media and see all the techno paraphernalia, both inside and outside the ground, and often wonder what Bob Lord would have made of it all.

I would cost the club millions to move everything to the other side of the ground.
If the Bob Lord Stand is redeveloped one-day though, I hope the view from the top of the Longside is considered.

Re: Turf Moor Cameras
The camera angler's fine as it is.
OK so most of the crumblies in the Bob Lord look like Smiler off "Last of the Summer Wine", and as animated as the cast from Shaun of the Dead, but it fits perfectly with the grim drab down at heel surrounds, and the barren acid moorland backdrop.
Its who we are.
