Mixed lettuce leaves (romaine and rocket), shavings of red onion, halved plum tomatoes, avocado, radish, and cucumber, topped with two slices of black pudding and a poached egg. Dress with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
Black Pudding Ka Pro:
Cook black pudding with green peppers and onion. Make a curry paste with a stick of lemongrass, hot chillies, and garlic in a pestle and mortar. Stir this in with the other ingredients and add Thai Sweet Basil leaves and Nam Pla (fish sauce). Serve with Thai jasmine rice.

Re: Black Pudding
I don't think I've ever had lemongrass in my kitchen, and if I bought some, I'd end up never using it again, like with so many other recipes.
This is the problem with cookbooks and recipes. There's a hole in the market for a book that will have recipes such as...
1. Buy some fish from Tesco
2. Throw it in the oven with frozen chips
3. Take out and add a bit of cucumber, lettuce and tomato
4. The end.

I'm a lover of Black Pudding as well, but how long before we have to change the name to Blood Sausage. It can only be a matter of time before it hits the woke radar.

To be fair you can usually buy a stick of lemongrass from any supermarket for a single use, so it’s not the kind of ingredient you would have left around.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 1:03 pmI don't think I've ever had lemongrass in my kitchen, and if I bought some, I'd end up never using it again, like with so many other recipes.

Re: Black Pudding
The black puddings you see in Spain are called morcillas (mortheeyas) and the gastronomic centre for them is Burgos in the North, so they are often referred to as morcillas de Burgos. They are, indeed, delicious and I have them regularly as a tapa, sometimes served in a light mustard sauce.

Had Black Pudding in Carralejo at an Argentine Steak House.
The owner came over after learning of my order, greeted me heartily and went backstage to ensure it was done to perfection.
It was served whole in it's skin, proper job

Haven't been for a while but Stubbing Wharf do a Black Pudding and Goats Cheese tower with a salad garnish dressed with some Balsamic concoction .it's a starter but my wife always has it as a main course...absolutely delicious...and very filling .Usually have it on the way over to the match and I have tuna and Cheese melt...best I've ever tasted.
The best black pudding I have ever had was on Burnley open market on Monday afternoons on the way home from school....memories.

Re: Black Pudding
The proper black puds from the market/butchers are fab, especially the fatty ones.
That sliced nonsense you get from supermarkets is a poor imitation. Sadly it's all you can get down here
Always absolutely drown them in vinegar, then add some more vinegar to be sure.
Used to smear them with mustard but haven't tried that in a long time.
Anybody use anything apart from vinegar/mustard?

My wife can eat a whole sausage by herself. No need for smut chaps
We get the market ones locally produced not the supermarket ones. I only usually get one slice with a big fry up. Namely because she picks them out of the frying pan as I'm cooking.

Talking of mustard have you tried grainy mustard in mashed spuds, really tasty with bangers and onion gravy.
