Brilliant player for us.
On his day (there was certainly plenty of them) he was easily the best player outside the PL

Used to love going to reserve games in the 60's. Two buses from Haslingden with my dad or brother and then 90 mins. of good football from some rising stars. All four sides of the ground open too Always a bonus when the tannoy informed us of a positive scoreline involving the first team. Heady days!

I still have a pile of those single sheet programmes from the reserve games somewhere. (Central League, it was called then, if i remember right.).
I used to stand on the old paddock in those days, the forerunner of the Bob Lord, sometimes upstairs, the old Brunshaw Road stand.
