Seeing as it was a statement that centered almost entirely on Covid 19 I'm not sure why you would think that.

A pretty careful report. He didn't plead poverty or say we had cash to spend on players.

Thankfully he didn’t provide a list of transfer targets so other clubs could move in and outbid Burnley.

"We want more communication from the club!"

Club communicates, even though they know next to nothing about how it's all going to pan out.

"No, not like that".

"That is on-going and I can assure all supporters that we are working very hard to ensure the club and the team – preparation and personnel-wise – is ready for the new season." Sounds like he is mentioning recruitment to me.

As for it being, essentially, a statement that makes no statements, that is how the Chairman's pre-season comments have always been. What do people expect? That he will come out and say we are looking at spending £250M and aiming for the Champions League next season? Or that we will spend nowt and seek relegation? The manager is the man who discusses team affairs, the Chairman's job is ensuring we still have a BFC to support and that our descendents will have that opportunity too. The future return to either full or partial match attendance is not currently within the club's area of responsibility so he cannot make any definitive statements about that either.

If that is what he meant then that is a recruitment strategy. No BFC Chairman in the past 25 years or more has talked about our recruitment objectives - that is for the manager to discuss, or not, as the case may be.

He did mention recruitment, albeit very vaguely.

As mentioned above, a bit of a pointless statement really. Almost as if he felt he had to say something so people know he is still around given many fans wanted him to comment at the beginning of the re-start when SD was sounding off a bit.

A simple statement updating the fans (yes nowt we don’t know) but still keeping us in the loop, thanking fans for supporting the team in even though we couldn’t in person and thanking those how have gone the extra mile helping out others less fortunate. So just because he hasn’t said we have £3.50 to spend on plahers doesn’t make it a pointless, nothing said statement.

I would have thought the use of polls on here would be a great way to canvass opinion and ensure the groups are representative of as many fans as possible.

I am interested in understanding more about the
Burnley FC Supporters’ Board; its composition, remit, frequency of meeting, activities etc. I note that applications were invited back in July 2019 when Dave Baldwin was in office but there is no information on the Club website subsequent to that, including the Supporters Clubs page. In the interest of transparency I have written to the Supporter Liaison Officer at the Club to understand if more details are available.

Yes you do know someone, I’m a member. Just now I’m afraid there isn’t too much I can say other than it was set up just before everything shut down because of the pandemic and it hasn’t been able to get itself as organised as it might have done.

I’m not in a position to say anything else right now but rest assured that once there are things to say I’ll ensure they are referenced on this website and messageboard and will also consult with you on here.

There has been no consultation whatsoever with Burnley FC Supporters Groups of which I am a member.

Thank you CT. Is that the same as the Burnley FC Supporters’ Board that Mike Garlic references in his statement (extract below)?

"To that end, our Chief Executive Officer Neil Hart continues to meet with the Burnley FC Supporters’ Board as the vehicle for communication and consultation with supporter groups and that will remain an on-going process."

If so, the statement clearly suggests there is an active an ongoing dialogue. It may be that there are different groups or, more likely, there is an innocent assumption that there has been consultation.

You know my views on away fans and I feel strongly that ST holders should be preferred to away fans but I am absolutely not challenging your integrity CT. Thank you for engaging on this and I genuinely look forward to hearing more and having my say when invited to do so.

Just to echo one or two of the comments above:
You could argue:
The best Board; the best Manager; the best Team; the best training facilities and the best Balance Sheet the Club has ever had and you still get people complaining about "lack of investment" or "lack of consultation" (whatever that means).
Some of the comments directed at our Chairman on this and other forums are disgraceful, especially when they come from some people who would struggle to run a bath let alone a multi million pound business (surrounded by much, much bigger competitors).
Sit down, shut up and enjoy the ride for God's sake.

To try to explain. I’ve been involved with Burnley FC Supporters Groups since it was formed in 2003. It is, in effect, an umbrella organisation for the various Supporters clubs. I regularly attended meetings with the club on their behalf until some time last year when the supporters board was launched. As I said, I was selected for the board, having applied, but it’s fair to say it has had a tricky start because of the current situation. Right now I can’t say more, probably not much more to say, but you have my word that I will when I’m able and when it’s appropriate.

Maybe time to offer a zoom type call for focus groups rather than a supporters board who relies on people to come into the club?

Im pretty sure this would get a more diverse/broader range of individuals as a result.

Even if they had a focus group where they could poll ideas/garner views etc. This would at least ensure the full spectrum of views are considered. If they had 14k of season ticket holders and 60% of them had emails - do surveys on those people rather than invite a dozen people in who think they speak for all supporters would be my view.

If you need a board - get the board to review the views rather than them feed in what they have interpreted.

All meetings have been on Zoom since lockdown. The club invited applications for the board last year so they could have a group of people to speak for supporters which is exactly what it will do.
