Ludicrous review for a caught behind. Good wicket keeper but he gets over excited.

Re: England vs Pakistan 3rd test (Southampton)
Yes he's played the situation perfectly supporting Crawley. And now building another partnership with Woakes.
And yet people are still moaning on the beeb text feed that he's scoring too slowly, you clearly can't please everyone even when you score 150 in a test match it seems.
Buttler gone for 152. I hope they promote Broad and give him license to thrill, nope Bess has come in, I'd have gone with Broad for a quick half hour of entertainment, we already have 530 on the board, and ideally you'd like to get them in tonight if you can.

Re: England vs Pakistan 3rd test (Southampton)
Sums up Pakistan's day, their skip has left the field after hurting his fingers stopping a shot from Bess, and then the sub fielder immediately flings the ball wildly at the keeper and strikes him on the hand, meaning the physio is required. When it's not your day it's not your day, and today it hasn't been their day.

Woakes gone for a useful 40, now Broad strides to the crease. 547-7 the declaration must be due soon.
Bess dropped on 14, Pakistan have fallen apart in this afternoon and evening, it doesn't bode well when they come out to bat.
Broady finding the stands a couple of times, he must have hit a good amount of 6's this summer.

Think declaration could be close - Root has got changed in readiness for fielding.

Yep you'd be looking at 45 mins to an hour at Pakistan tonight I'd have thought, they can't go anywhere in that period, but they could easily lose a couple of wickets, they look dispirited in the field, and they have to try and steel themselves to repel the Anderson/Broad burst which will no doubt be coming soon.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 6:18 pmThink declaration could be close - Root has got changed in readiness for fielding.

Told you Jimmy would be a handful on here, could he get to 600 in this game, every chance now, only 5 more to nab. It looks a different game now England are bowling.

The good news for Pakistan Stuart Broad is coming off, the bad news for Pakistan is Jofra Archer is coming on, just what you want to face in fading light late in the day.

Re: England vs Pakistan 3rd test (Southampton)
Not mine but I nicked it from the Beeb feed.
Jimmy Anderson loves a mingle
He bowls Abid for a single
He’s still our Burnley boy hero
Despite those saying he’s an old zero
And so ends this cricketing jingle.
I'm sure it's just coincidence that those lyrics rhyme with dingle

Re: England vs Pakistan 3rd test (Southampton)
Huge wicket that, that's the cream on top for England, they've dominated this match since tea yesterday, and they're not keeping Pakistan an inch, at this rate it could be all over tomorrow.
Jimmy clearly realises he needs to get his 600 ASAP, as there's no guarantee when he'll bowl for England again.
I wonder what odds you'd get on Jimmy bagging all 10.

Would be great if he did but it would be such a shame of he did reach the landmark on an empty stadium.
I was at the MCG when Warne got his 700th and achievements like that should be witnessed by a full ground.

Yes that was the only disappointment about Crawley's magnificent innings that he didn't get the standing ovation he richly deserved, and Buttler as well his highest test score and it was in an empty stadium.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 7:58 pmWould be great if he did but it would be such a shame of he did reach the landmark on an empty stadium.

Hopefully by next summer England tests will once again have packed out crowds watching the action.
That must have been some atmosphere seeing Warne notch his 700th. That what sporting fans live for witnessing those once in a lifetime moments.

Yes, was a pretty special thing the witness. Close to 100,000 in the MCG.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 8:23 pmYes that was the only disappointment about Crawley's magnificent innings that he didn't get the standing ovation he richly deserved, and Buttler as well his highest test score and it was in an empty stadium.

Re: England vs Pakistan 3rd test (Southampton)
The only disappointment for me today was watching the ground staff taking an hour to mop water from the covers.
Now the hover covers are great but at this particular ground the hover covers have sheets that fold out at both sides to cover the rest of the square.
But after the showers the ground staff had to clear the water before they could roll them back up into the hover cover. If this was a local league game the players would just simply pick the sheet up and walk it off the pitch and empty the water at the side.
They need to get the game on as soon as possible.

Re: England vs Pakistan 3rd test (Southampton)
When Jimmy's on it like this he's unplayable, the only thing that looks like stopping him is the weather, but he's far too good for the Pakistan batsman.
They still need 350 just to avoid the follow-on, and I assume England would enforce it, there's no valid reason not too.

Re: England vs Pakistan 3rd test (Southampton)
Just looking at the top test match wicket takers, Jimmy will do well to catch the top 2, but he's got a fair shot at passing Kumble, before he hangs up his bowling boots.
Muttiah Muralitharan (Sri Lanka & ICC) - 800
Shane Warne (Australia) - 708
Anil Kumble (India) - 619
James Anderson (England) - 597
Glenn McGrath (Australia) - 563
Muttiah Muralitharan (Sri Lanka & ICC) - 800
Shane Warne (Australia) - 708
Anil Kumble (India) - 619
James Anderson (England) - 597
Glenn McGrath (Australia) - 563
Re: England vs Pakistan 3rd test (Southampton)
I doubt he will tour this winter and next season he will be 39 on July 30th. Even playing as a Test fast bowler beyond 35 is an achievement, will the ECB want to play someone who will be unlikely to Tour Oz in 2021 and be nearing 40 by the time the tour finishes at the end of January 2022?

Re: England vs Pakistan 3rd test (Southampton)
He's never had a chance of catching Murali and Warne and I didn't think he would ever get close to Kumble either. He reckons he's got a couple of years left at least now and if he bowls like he's done last night and this morning then there is no reason to believe he won't claim third place.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 12:27 pmJust looking at the top test match wicket takers, Jimmy will do well to catch the top 2, but he's got a fair shot at passing Kumble, before he hangs up his bowling boots.
