Tonight's Boxing
Whyte or Povetkin who we got ?
Tempted to back Povetkin he's a real price. Just wonder if the age gap will be too much.

Re: Tonight's Boxing
Even Persoon has said good decision and the weight was too much for her. Going back down in future.
Re: Tonight's Boxing
Absolutely spot on. Outworked Taylor in every round and the 5 round decision on one card were absolutely criminal.

Taylor really struggled for me and seemed embarrassed when Persoon was complimentary about her and said she deserved the win.

That score was a shambles. Persoons far too humble in that interview

I was just thinking how Whyte has improved his boxing skills and looked very tidy.
Then bang, that's heavyweight boxing

Yep. The big lads land a big shot and it’s goodnight.
Re: Tonight's Boxing
Shambolic from Whyte. Far to lazy in his approach and thought it were done and dusted after the first knock down. Thrown his career away with that knock out.

I thought Whyte looked clumsy all night. Against one of the bigger boys he'd have been gone in the 2nd. Game over for him now

Re: Tonight's Boxing
Though Taylor got away with that again tonight. Close and she was landing the cleaner shots and doing the better work but just couldn’t keep Persoon off her.
Whyte is bang average at best. A washed up journeyman in Chisora outboxed him twice.
Fair play to Povetkin who is an excellent boxer but Father Time has caught up with him some time ago.
That uppercut though was perfect execution
Interesting to see how Eddie Hearn tries to avoid his cash cow face Loosing to Fury now. Usyk may get his chance although that will be a last roll of the dice effort as Usyk has more than a good chance of Defeating AJ.

Fury v AJ is the only fight left to make now. Hearn will avoid it aslong as he can.
Usyk is very good but the only problem is I think he is too small physically to be in there with a man the size of AJ.

I think Persoon was saying 'Had I have been a bit bigger naturally, I would have flattened her quite easily'. She was non stop action and maybe a victim of the venue.

Re: Tonight's Boxing
Peerson won the fight in my opinion - outworked Taylor - . The five round margin to Taylor was a complete joke . The judging really needs 2 be looked at by the Board of Control - not doing boxing any favours - Mr Hearn

Re: Tonight's Boxing
Do you really think so? Maybe he has more physical strength but actual punch power? You do know it’s the timing and accuracy which translates to punching power. Usyk can put a guy away with one shot, Joshua can’t.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 12:38 pmI’d be amazed if Usyk beat AJ the difference in power is ridiculous
Usyk is far superior to Joshua in boxing ability, movement, ring IQ and has much better whiskers. Joshuas only advantages are size, and it’s not huge as Usyk is a big boy aswell.

Yes I do mate, I think he punches a lot harder. I’m not sure how you can say AJ can’t put someone away in one punch? His KO percentage is as good as most, Usyk like you say is a big welter. I remember Bellew fought Usyk but said he wasn’t stupid enough to fighter Fury, Wilder, AJRight_winger wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 1:05 pmDo you really think so? Re: Tonight's Boxing
Usyk might be good enough to keep out of Joshua's way for 12 rounds and beat him on points, he's a far better boxer technically.

Joshua beats Usyk due to the size difference.
Fury beats Joshua as AJ won't get neat him.

I absolutely do and if you think Fury as slicker skills than Usyk then your deluded. If Joshua can land a punch on Usyk he can definitely hit Fury.

Fury has almost 20cm extra in reach. Much easier to get close to Usyk than Fury.

Re: Tonight's Boxing
The Bronze Bomber got very close to Fury in their first fight and so did the German lad.
Why won't A.J?
It's a 50/50 fight.
May the best man win as long as he's a northerner.

Re: Tonight's Boxing
I say AJ can’t put people away with 1 punch because he hasn’t done it. He doesn’t have the technique, timing or accuracy to do so. AJ bludgeons people and relies on pinning them on the ropes and unleashes multiple shots, brawler style. On the contrary Usyk has putBurnley1989 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 4:55 pmYes I do mate, I think he punches a lot harder. I’m not sure how you can say AJ can’t put someone away in one punch? Someone away with 1 shot. Actually knocked Bellew spark out before his head hit the canvass. That my friend is real punching power. KO percentage doesn’t translate to punch power either, especially when most of them aren’t acutely KOs and the guys have been on their feet. Come back once you’ve differentiated KO from TKO.
1 thing I’m certain about is if AJ connects flush with Usyk ( big if ) then he will take it much better than if Usyk connect flush on him.
I’m assuming you didn’t mean to write that Usyk is a big welter? You mean cruiser weight right?
Anyway... hopefully Povetkin finishes Whyte off in the rematch. Another Eddie Hearn hype job. I don’t like hype jobs.

Re: Tonight's Boxing
21 stoppages yes, but missing the point. The point being 1 punch KO power which he hasn’t got. He can’t put people away with 1 shot.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 6:00 pm21 knockouts from 24 suggests Joshua can put them away too...
How many of his 21 stoppages have been TKOs? How many were against bin men and Über supervisors?
Joshuas CV is almost as bad as Wilders. Wilder incidentally does have 1 punch KO power which has carried him his whole career as he cannot box.
