Break the bank player?
If you were to break the structure for one player (and lets keep it semi realistic) who would it be.
Bit of fun so don't slaughter me for it might take a bit of weight of the transfer linky/linkyless thread
For me - Scott McTominay
Hard working
Tough tackling
Right attitude - Dyche enabled
Young
in and around Man Utd first team but not a guaranteed start
Scores some belters
Protects the fancy dans.
He wouldn't be cheap but he would be value imho
On you go

James Milner, expensive wages for a year or two but he'd be fantastic.

Re: Break the bank player?
Nobody!
Purchase price is an irrelevance, but if you pay one player £100k/week, then you need to either align the whole squad to that salary, or run the risk (more a probability than a possibility) that other members of the squad will think 'sod it' and perform accordingly.

Re: Break the bank player?
We need someone that picks locks. I would have thrown the lot at Silva for a 2 year contract. Manchester based etc etc no need to move the family etc etc.
Often feel we could seduce Man City’s releases.

Trippier for me.
Guaranteed quality and character.
Knows the place and other players.
Would love to have him back

Re: Break the bank player?
Trippier for me too. Underappreciated at Spurs, done OK in Spain, as far as I can gather and it would be bitterly disappointing to see him go to a club like Aston Villa
Re: Break the bank player?
Thomas Muller. Not just a brilliant footballer, but plays with smile as well as giving 100%.
I ignored the semi realistic bit obviously. But of any footballer I’d like to see at Burnley, it’d be him.

Re: Break the bank player?
He's absolutely tapped. Imagine him joining in the shenanigans with Barnes and Westy
Re: Break the bank player?
Not necessarily a position we'd need but Giroud would do well with us, as would Rondon.
Been linked already but Deulofeu would probably break the wage structure and be worth it (as long as he stayed fit). A fit Shaqiri would be class too.

Tripps, every day of the week because he would actually improve our already excellent back five!

I would tend to agree - tripps would be a good realistic player to break the bank for.

Would be knocking on europa door again if we got Trippier back and kept the squad intact

Not exactly breaking the bank..but we should have tried just a tad harder to keep Jeff Hendrick.

Re: Break the bank player?
McTominay - my favourite United player. Only one I like, bar maybe Rashford now, I think. Didn’t watch much of their Europa League or Restart games but the ones I did seemed to have Matic starting ahead of him. Unless he’s injured would wager United would have done much better with him in the side. In a world where we had a rich investor and he’d been completely alienated from the United side, he’d be exactly the type of player I’d want us to go for.Guller Bull wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2020 9:14 amIf you were to break the structure for one player (and lets keep it semi realistic) who would it be.
