T20 Blast starts today

Post by tiger76 » Thu Aug 27, 2020 11:18 am

Finally some domestic white ball cricket this summer. :D

Lancs travel to Durham.

While Yorkshire host Notts in the 1st round of games.

14 September is the date for Yorks to host Lancs, and the reverse fixture is the 17th September.

Strong start for Lancs, century opening stand between Davies and Jennings, should be looking for 200 from here.

152/0 from 16 overs

8/13 looks a good price now currently 1/9

Great knock from Jennings, and well supported by Davies, this should be more than enough to defend. 190-3 I can't see Durham chasing that against the Lancs spinners.

Lanc's squad down to the bare bones. If they qualify for the next round it will be quite an achievement.

Lancs win their opening game.

Meanwhile our tinpot neighbours, followed by a load of Glory Hunters, have a clearly waterlogged ground, so looks unlikely they will get to play tonight. Saves the hype machine from being cranked up.

By the way lads..... they've spent £1.2m on that drainage system there...... looks like somebody has found another way to syphon funds away from the club since they got told it wasn't right for them to just keep dipping their hands in the till.

Edit - TINPOT

Look at those puddles - it looks more like a swimming pool than a cricket ground.

And what is with those covers? The old 1970's 3 piece roll on affairs, with some PPE style aprons around them.

7 matches scheduled today and only one positive result at the ground which is the furthest north ----it hasn't been a brilliant day up here but it somehow stayed fine for most of it. Good win for Lancs.

With the number of sloggers and "Mystery Spinners" (As in it's a mystery how they still get games getting wickets from sloggers on the boundary) Yorkshire are producing, I'd have thought you'd be right behind this. I mean, you don't produce test players, this is the Nadir for your lads. Cymbals, Steve Stifler, Voldemort, Adildo, Ballance, McGrath, that medium pacer who is captain who doesn't swing it.... this is their game.

No need to check the BBC when the prime cricket broadcaster were there to watch the main show in town.

Shame they didn't head north to watch that Wigan lad get his ton.

A 2 part series, a 30 day run of singin in the rain followed by gardener's world special on the best techniques to grow rice in the paddy fields of Headingley. "You've got manure, you've got puddles, just chuck in a few grains of rice and watch it grow.... it's more interesting than watching Joe Sayers, The Barrel or The Racist batting"

Old Trafford.... home to the greats...,

The world's best spinner
The world's best fast bowler.

Headingley...... a decent stage for people outside of the county to come and show the locals what great cricketers look like.

I see Yorkshire are developing another home grown Southerner, with the signing of Dom Bess. He'll be at home in an increasingly Cockney dressing room., Jellied Ells and Pie And Mash for tea from here on in.

Also, @JDROBBO - we only deal with facts on this thread, and whilst Wasim Akram was a brilliant bowler, there is no world title for him to hold, unlike Anderson and Murali who factually, and statistically are the best ever in the world in their domain.

Oh on the contrary, Wasim has the record (joint) for the most hat-tricks bowled in international cricket. He also holds the international record score for a batsman coming in at number eight...257 runs!

If you start introducing stuff like that they’ll tell you Bresnan bowled the most long hops.... it’s a simple game, you either take most wickets in your discipline or score most runs. Owt beyond that is irrelevant.

In assessing him as the worlds greatest ever spin bowler? Yes.

In assessing him as the world's greatest ever batsman - no, if he scores another 15,000 or so.

Sussex-Surrey game another victim of the weather today, this summer has been abysmal for cricket, hopefully we'll have a dry autumn, and the season can end on a high.

This summer has only been abysmal for cricket because we have had a soggy and windy August. June and July were fine for cricket but Covid19 restrictions scuppered any play.

Let's hope for a warm, sunny and dry September.

Here's a stat lads :

Most County Championship Titles - Yorkies 32.

Lanky - 9. Eight of which were when Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd were running at 100mph to escape an onrushing train.

You sound like a Forest fan bodge.....what's gone has gone. We won 2 European cups you know, we're a massive club..... meanwhile they're down in the doldrums, and Yorkshire aren't producing any decent players. Signed another southerner yesterday I see.

So what Blackburn won loads of FA Cups in the 19th century, doesn't mean jack s**t nowadays.

We have lent England their record wicket taker of all time, and their highest test match run scorer this summer, meanwhile Root keeps producing zilch with the bat.

That's lame, real lame. Ever heard the phrase class will out. I'll put it down to 10 Speckled Hens.
