Re: Clarets article
Spot onLike the ground in which they play, a wistful, charming relic in a world of insincere pretences, Burnley have no desire to exist in this modern footballing world in any other way than their own way. The Burnley way.

I thought he must be local, it's so pro Burnley but he's a sports journalist from Frome. Excellent piece, didn't know about the Cry Rse bingo, spot on.

Re: Clarets article
After reading the article, I had to look up the author to see if he was a claret.

An excellent, extremely well researched article. Just one point dropped for not mentioning Man Utd in our list of big scalps!

The mention of Ashley Barnes leads me to ask if anyone knows if he has recovered from the hernia operation and will be fit for the new season?…....... Up the Clarets.

Also at the bottom of that page is a very good write up, under the photo of the 1970 Chelsea team. The article is written through the eyes of a 14 year old, who attended our home cup replay game v Chelsea, with his Chelsea supporting mate. I was also at both of the cup ties, plus the Final and re played Cup Finals v Leeds.

Agree with you and a lot of errors in there too. Can’t think why anyone would think the writer was a Burnley fan.longsidetrumpet wrote: ↑Thu Aug 27, 2020 9:00 pmFirst two pars had me almost spewing up, cliched and lazy. Having said that, I’ll now read the rest of it

Re: Clarets article
Is that an important criterion? Surely the writer not being a Claret gives the article more validity?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Aug 27, 2020 9:22 pmAgree with you and a lot of errors in there too. Can’t think why anyone would think the writer was a Burnley fan.

Not everyone has your in depth knowledge CT, I thought it might be a fellow Claret because it was so supportive of us. He is a former amateur footballer (Frome Town Sports FC) now sports journalist and budding author.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Aug 27, 2020 9:56 pmOther posters were suggesting it had been written by a Claret, I was just pointing out that it couldn’t be.

Re: Clarets article
the armchair critics are out again.
someone's just written a complimentary article about our football club, FFS. best kick the sh!t out of it like the archetypal underdog: not happy when we are criticised, not happy when we are praised!

No one is having a go about it but as an article I thought it was something I’ve read time and again and was pointing out that for a Burnley fan reading it there were mistakes that shouldn’t be there.
Absolutely no reason why there can’t be critical comments whether it is supportive of the club or not.

Isn't sometimes enough just to enjoy something? Perfection, or the pursuit of it, is unattainable. Can make one ill.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Aug 27, 2020 10:57 pmNo one is having a go about it but as an article I thought it was something I’ve read time and again and was pointing out that for a Burnley fan reading it there were mistakes that shouldn’t be there.

Clarets player showed players back training this week!frankinwales wrote: ↑Thu Aug 27, 2020 4:35 pmThe mention of Ashley Barnes leads me to ask if anyone knows if he has recovered from the hernia operation and will be fit for the new season?…....... Up the Clarets.
I noticed Ashley running with a back room staff separately from other players and not joining in with other team mates.
Appears from that he’s not up to full training schedule yet...would imagine Sean would say he’s ‘on grass’!
