Having spent the day in Lytham where there was zero distancing. And drove through Blackpool where it was the busiest I’ve ever seen, let’s hope fans in stadiums are low risk (that was always the message at the start with Cheltenham etc) and fans returning in bigger numbers soon.

Fans in stadiums aren't necessarily the problem, it's the travelling to and from the venues that carries a bigger risk, the information seems to be that the virus is far less potent in an outdoor environment, so you'd hope that outdoor sporting events such as cricket, footy, horse racing, and rugby would be able to admit supporters soon, albeit in limited numbers initially.

Let’s hope so. Can’t bare the thought of a full season like the 9 game restart (albeit absolutely the right thing to do).

Can’t see how it’s not possible with temperature checks, mandatory sanitising and masks. If you can travel on a plane for x hours in similar circumstances, you should be able to attend an open air sporting event.

Not sure that’s true. How is travelling to a stadium more of a risk?

Even if the virus is less potent outdoors fans are still sat shoulder to shoulder and knee to back, all the while shouting and singing. Then there is the issue of congested concourses.

That's why it's being introduced on a gradual basis, I certainly don't expect any stadiums being allowed more than 50% capacities before the turn of the year, and that's possibly optimistic.

These are only trials with very small numbers, and things like staggered entry in force, there certainly won't be any crowded concourses or turnstile entries in the near future, this will be taken in baby steps.

But at least it's a start, and if it goes well, then they might extend it to other grounds on a game by game basis.

They had this discussion on the Scottish football coverage earlier, and it was made clear that it would be a lot easier to allow say 5-10,000 fans into Celtic Park and Ibrox, because naturally they are much larger grounds, and it should be easier to space crowds out, and have various points of entry and exit, maybe some type of one-way system as well.

At the smaller grounds things such as these are much harder to put in place, and the facilities aren't always up to standard anyway, plus some of the smaller grounds have standing areas, which by their nature will encourage groups to congregate in larger groups and not socially distance, with seated areas it's much easier to implement a specific seat to somebody, and ensure that the nearby seats aren't occupied.

On the issue of travelling to stadiums, not everybody has their own method of transport, and they'd have to rely on public transport which is perceived as a high risk area of virus spread, hence why face coverings are compulsory now on all forms of transport, as social distancing is difficult.

I expected bubbles to be sat horizontally from other bubbles/people not directly in front/behind.

Has anything being said by us regarding season tickets? I was just about the renew on the early bird when they were taken off. If only a small percentage of ST holders can go does this mean I've no chance?

were over in tenerife and masks must be worn when walking anywere in public ,once you get to a bar or cafe etc you can remove it but then inside all workers who serve you have to wear a mask at all times , to be fair it becomes normality after a couple of days.I beleive it will stay this way until a vaccine is found

One thing im not yet sure of is can i still go on with members of my family, we gone on together for 30 yr plus and is part of the match day enjoyment.

Only had to wear them in concourses and on their way into the ground and their seats. Not once sat apart

Already been going to watch local cricket and non league football. Preliminary FA cup game on Tuesday, just under max 300 expected. Got to say, having a pint, walking up and paying on the day is pretty good.

25% capacity max sounds about right to me to ensure social distancing can be adhered too, it's not ideal but it's a damn sight better than nobody attending.

How they'll divvy the allocation up is a good in that case, I guess we've currently got a lot more than 5k ST holders.

Ballot possibly or loyalty points, whatever they decide it won't please everyone, but special times call for special measures I suppose.

Does everyone have to social distance? I live at home with my dad and sit next to him on the turf but as I understand it we would have to social distance from each other?

A Leeds supporting mate of mine said that they could register themselves as a bubble of up to 10 who were guaranteed to attend the same games. Sounds like a good idea and hopefully one that we will implement.

I’m guessing the people who cancelled their season tickets for a refund when given the option won’t be eligible to attend?

I've not had a season ticket for ages due to location but being fair they (season ticket holders) should be given priority.

Didn't notice anyone sitting together at the Brighton v Chelsea game. Yes it was a trial but can't see it being a coincidence that nobody was sat together.

From the picture it looked like they were told to only sit in odd (or even) numbered seats.

I would have thought alternating the numbers used on each row would have been better for both social distancing and making the stands look more filled

I can’t imagine you’ll be sitting directly next to your ‘bubble’. You will just be able to attend the game with them and presumably be allocated seats together but spaced out. The unallocated seats will be taped and the same seats will be used for all games.

Sounds promising. Actually thought exec boxes only would be a good start. At the turf today the games hargreqves windows have all been tinted. Usually you can only watch from behind blinds so as not to have drink on display.

That’s an interesting one. Wasn’t expecting any club to be allowed as many as a third in once they can start admitting people from October. I think it is going to differ though in terms of percentages from ground to ground.

I imagine the size and layout of sjp will help.

Although access via lifts and stairs etc may actually conflict with that. The away end especially is very tightly packed.

That was the last ground, apart from ours, that I was in just two weeks before the City game was called off. Social distancing? The crushing at half time was frightening.

Last time i was there. I think I will be glad if masks remain mandatory.

I’d heard that clubs using software to calculate safe seating arrangements were getting c.25% capacity but Old Trafford will be allowed 31% because they’ve used a consultant to calculate their viable capacity and it’s come in slightly higher.

That Twickenham game will be a severe test as to how far attendances can be increased, if they can host that match without incident, then that's a really promising sign of progress.

There aren’t any families sat together which would allow more in, Perhaps no-One would want to sit next to a Brighton fan anyway

At a committee meeting this morning my walking football club has been told that group numbers per session can rise from the current 32 player maximum to 36 from Sept 19th and unlimited from 1st October.(10 a side is the most our pitches can reasonably manage) Changing facilities should remain socially isolated IF POSSIBLE. Over 70s are to be allowed back for sessions from Sept 16th.

That is another big reduction in lockdown rules!

Last time I saw Rocky he was sat in Barclays and had his mask on but under his chin

Well today has put a dampener on getting back in grounds from October. Plans have been ‘put on hold’.
