Now they have realised he is excellent when he can defend deep in a low block as they call it now.

He has been excellent for Everton.

When they left him on his own at the half way line he got exposed like most defenders would.

They've finally got a manager who can set up the team correctly and get the best out of Keane.

Most of us know he's a very good defender, but part of the issue has been Everton in disarray.

Shame the Barca move didn't happen   I

Been a strange three years for him there with four different managers which can’t help any player. He’s a damn good player though as we all know from his time with us.

Fair play to Michael, after a tough start and a bad time off the field, he's been rewarded for the turnaround in form.

A part of me wanted to see him move in for a big fee, as I'm almost certain we would have had a decent sell on clause, and we could do with the extra cash right now.

Yep, done well. Pleased for him.

Think these deals usually have soMe add-ons for signing new contracts, don’t they? If he’s under a 5 year contract there’s still some hope for a sell on fee in a few years 🤞🏻🤞🏻

All I'll say is I have an Everton supporting mate who thought he's rubbish. I told him to judge him when he had defenders around him who could actually defend. I felt sorry for Keane as he was made a scapegoat for a manager who had no clue or tried to change the style too quickly and a defence who, well frankly; couldn't defend.

He was playing with an injury during the really ropey spell.

Amazed by this. He might have had good reasons but has been bang average for Everton. Will be interesting to see how Everton fans react to this news. Obviously a very decent player for us, but a player who also benefited from playing in a defensively very organised team.

Still, that's his career sorted. Fair play to the lad.

The injury was in his first season and he played with it against us when we won 1-0 at Goodison which then led to his mental health issues. The really ropey spell, which transferred into his England performance, was last season.
