Modern Day Things That You Actually Like

Post by KateR » Sun Aug 30, 2020 8:16 pm

Part of an experiment, as I don't think it will run to as many pages as the one under Modern Day Things That **** You Off

I will try to kick it off:

induction cook tops & fan ovens (although been around awhile)

Being able to contact and see my friends and family anytime from anywhere in the world.

For all the negativity technology can bring, it brings some good ones.

Yes, because I was born in the late 1800s. I know I'm good, but 140+ is pushing my limits.

You're giving your age away Kate. I'm 40 so you must be knocking around my age.

the wise thing is very true, and I thought you were very good with puzzles along with a few others, however you are failing on the cryptic clue I gave you, but you would have to go through the thread on the Lockdown Jokes & Memes to know the answer. However, having said that, I know you were there often, so you've lost a few points around the wise/quiz-master pedestal I had you sat on now.

From works point of view - social media means advertising is free and minimal work required and positive feed back can be seen (don't really get any negative)

Diagnostic machines makes life easier when looking for issues on cars.

Normal everyday life - Amazon, Netflix, Disney+.

My Cineworld card is one of the best things I've got or ever had

WhatsApp for video calling people, or to be precise for my 5yr old daughter to video call people on my phone
She had a video call with my mum the other day and when she was done she hung up before I got a chance to chat to mum

YouTube - gives skilled people a platform to show what they can do with existing songs and remixing them.
Some of my favourite current tunes are remixes

Online gaming - one of the most satisfying things for me is battering my teenage boys on CoD or Fifa

Phone consultations with the Docs - my local docs is mainly doing phone consultations due to Covid and I have to say its brilliant, no real wait time it's usually same day or next day and I don't have to waste time travelling to the Practice or sitting in the waiting room

The NHS app is also great for ordering repeat prescriptions.

People speaking into mobiles on loud speaker holding it next to their heads.

Bloody great that. Great idea why didn't we suss it sooner faffing around using the ear speaker all them years having private conversations . Ha , what the hell went through our heads. I can see all the next gen mobiles not bothering with the small ear speaker and just opting for the loud speaker.

Pre - Covid. The ease of travelling anywhere in the world. You can easily book a flight and hotel, travel with 5 mins.

Internet Banking. So easy to sort bills etc.

Smart Phone. Maps, Camera, Music, plus the ability to do the above and much more.

Napster?
Started on Cubase in the 90's, now I tend to use ProTools on the pc or preferably ProLogic which is the Mac version.

I think Napster is a music streaming service(?), I 'm talking more about digital music creation.
