I always thought that when I started getting into music around 15/16 in about 2005ish. I just started ticking off bands from the 60’s to listen too, Beatles, Stones, Dylan, etc etc. I longed to be in them days. But as I’ve grown older I’ve appreciated so much more that I’ve enjoyed brilliant newer bands, plus those old ones. Not directed at you Steve btw, but imo older fans have far less appreciation to new music as young fans do to older stuff.
I like all music mate,my appreciation of Post Malone on this thread proves that,I was trying to point out the soundtrack to my youth was the likes of Led Zeppelin and the soundtrack to some of you younger guys will be Take that ,& Boyzone there is simply no comparassion ....but Iike i said i love music the world would be an empty place without it.

Julia Bardo. From Italy, moved to Manchester to pursue a career in music. Lots of vintage vibes and a fine voice.

It wasn’t directed at you Steve, like I said pal! I feel sometimes people your era are more closed off to new music. Not that listening to Post Malone is any good anyway ;) hahah.

for me it is a generalization with zero meaning, people like Steve and lots of others here and in the world will have lived through and heard so many more songs than you will have and therefore have a much broader appreciation, this is also a generalization because not all of them will have.

The one forecast I would make, is that in a couple/few decades you will be arguing the reverse with some young person who thinks the old folks no nothing about music. I did exactly the same with my parents but in fairness, they did not play much music in the house, there was no record collection or turntable, music TV shows were only ever on when my sister and I wanted to watch. My children grew up with music and I think it's a wonderful thing, but boy bands do so little for me and neither do those using synthesizers instead of actually playing an instrument, that may be proving your point to you but.........

My children share music with me and tell me what they think I will like and I do the same with them, so I think many of us, not all, at an older age are not closed off to music and new ideas.

I love all types of music, but I think the fact that the guy singing this natural background is thrash, to then go polar opposites and sing Simon and Garfunkel, and add pure emotion is immense...

never a big fan of Joan or Bob, but over the years I have come to really appreciate what a talent is that is Bob Dylan, truly one of the greats for me who changed the face of music.

I would never have thought about listening to Joan but that was excellent and on the list to go to the IPod, thank you :)

I often hum or sing take the ribbon from my hair (usually to boos and shouts to be quiet) unless I am in the shower or alone. This reminds me the same sort, I think they are popular but not for me. Yet as I say take the ribbon from my hair is just in my brain somewhere and pops out occasionally, neither for my IPod collection though, more elevator music for me, sorry.

yes indeed :) hence my post, but for years, decades actually I didn't, I thought Jerry did the original for a long time, plus when I asked my family and friends, none of them knew either, old blue eyes had a hit twice with it, and a glittering list of others also.

I love the sound of this guys voice and yes it's on my IPod :)

I watched Woodstock again fairly recently with my son who had never seen it, never heard of the vast majority of the performers/songs and he did enjoy it, a lot I think.

I believe all who performed and all the songs are really good and it's well worth listening to the whole recording again, just in my opinion that is.

What is your favorite song from Woodstock everyone?

In regard to Woodstock, so good, love Joe, and remember dancing to Santana, Soul Sacrifice in a disco in Majorca years and years later than Woodstock, Hendrix immense, Canned Heat yes pleas but this is the one for me from the iconic event, sorry again Frank lol. Bit like Queen would be decades later from another famous event :)

When I need to chill after a stressful day there is nothing better than the relaxing sound of David Sylvian's voice
