England vs Pakistan 3rd T20

Post by dandeclaret » Tue Sep 01, 2020 5:55 pm

From a gloriously sunny, saviour of cricket, Old Trafford.

England win the toss and bowl. Groundsman has produced a really long boundary for those slogging Adildo to get caught.

Game on.

Beat me to it dc :) England unchanged, but there might be plenty of musical chairs come the Australia series.

Looks like the batsman will have to dig England out of a hole again, this Haider is some find a 28 ball 50 on debut.

England bowl short Pakistan hit it long, you'd think they'd have learnt from the other day, but apparently not. Whatever happened to the good old-fashioned yorker.

I dare say that England might knock these off, but I've found it really quite frustrating, (bordering on depressing) watching England's second string bowlers in these past two matches. The skill-set and application is way below international standard.

How many runs does Tom Curran owe us if he get a bat?

Moeen Ali due some too. We have some big hitters, we have a chance of getting these.

England chasing 191 to win.

Jordan bowled very well, Mahmood did ok bowling at the toughest times, Curran and Gregory were poor, and Rashid was shocking.

190-4 it's an improvement on Sunday. I do still think we'll knock them off, but there will come a time when England won't recover from a mauling in the field, this attack can't play against the Aussies, the likes of Finch, Smith & Warner will cream them to all parts.

The difference in quality between our current test players and the 20/20 players is ridiculous.

Not really. England's white ball team are world champions, and they form the majority of this team, plenty of key players not available at present. Good learning curve for some of these lads, and it's not really a bowlers game at Old Trafford too often in T20.

Lads - you're hammering them again at half time. It's a batters game, a batter's wicket. Bowlers will go for plenty of runs. They weren't great some of them, but they're not the write offs you're making them out to be - especially with no cricket behind them.

I may be wrong but there's is only 3 of the World Champions playing 20/20 at the moment isnt they? Morgan, Ali, Bairstow

The rest of the WC are in the test side.

Morgan, Ali, Bairstow, Rashid - 4 of them, but that only further invalidates the point doesn't it? Add Woakes, Buttler, Stokes, Roy, Root, Archer to this team, to turn it into the 20:20 team, and it looks a lot better.

Thats my point - probably not spelt out clearly to be fair.

That group of players you mention are significantly better than the ones current playing 20/20 that they would replace.

That's why some of us have described it as a very poor "second-string" attack. They're just not bowling well enough for any level.

Young Banton is impressing again, he's been the real plus this summer, Jason Roy might struggle to regain his place, hard as that is to believe.

Billings gone 26 ends a good partnership with Moeen, 65 off 34 needed not impossible but difficult with a new batsman.

Maybe not any level, but at any reasonable level of county cricket and even in the local leagues, you'd be very disappointed to see bowlers serving up so many long hops, misdirected slower bowls, and all the other dross that we've seen in the past two games.
