Hopefully some of the Wendys on this thread will follow his lead, and then we'll be closer to the United Kingdom of Utopia.

Re: Gary Lineker
With all the disruption to sport this year I think Gary Lineker is a strong contender for Sports Personality of the Year.
The MotD stuff he did with Shearer and Wright during lockdown was amazing and his work supporting the BLM movement was inspirational.
Now he is leading by example with the asylum crisis whilst keeping that fine balance of not letting his personal views overlap with his professional sports role I honestly cannot think of a better candidate than him
Come on the BBC you have had a great year and this would be the icing on the cake

Re: Gary Lineker
It's certainly not for me I don't like the man I never have done, I like people to be completely & totally absorbed in there line of work with the upmost dedication, I'm interested in people who specialise in their chosen professions, i wouldn't expect tiger woods to cook me a good curry but I wouldn't expect Mumtaz at Bradford to give me a good game of golf, it's a complete different ideology we both subscribe to, agree to disagree on this 1 I can't say fairer than that.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 7:49 pmHe is impartial when doing the job he's paid to do.
He also has a life outside of his work.
It's quite easy to separate the two. It's quite easy to listen to him speak about football and avoid his political views.
It's almost as easy as constructing a coherent sentence so I can see why you struggle with it though.

So basically what you’re saying is that you’re not qualified to comment on the matter (unless posting on here is your profession of course).Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 9:21 pmIt's certainly not for me I don't like the man I never have done, I like people to be completely & totally absorbed in there line of work with the upmost dedication, I'm interested in people who specialise in their chosen professions, i wouldn't expect tiger woods to cook me a good curry but I wouldn't expect Mumtaz at Bradford to give me a good game of golf, it's a complete different ideology we both subscribe to, agree to disagree on this 1 I can't say fairer than that.

Re: Gary Lineker
Isn't it so much easier to be honest and just say you don't like him than trying to put forward some sort of nonsense argument? Although you haven't completely left that behind.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 9:21 pmIt's certainly not for me I don't like the man I never have done, I like people to be completely & totally absorbed in there line of work with the upmost dedication, I'm interested in people who specialise in their chosen professions, i wouldn't expect tiger woods to cook me a good curry but I wouldn't expect Mumtaz at Bradford to give me a good game of golf, it's a complete different ideology we both subscribe to, agree to disagree on this 1 I can't say fairer than that.
How's the generator, by the way?

But he’s no longer a sportsman, he’s a television presenter.

Re: Gary Lineker
Well my understanding is that it's a derogatory northern term (mainly used in Yorkshire) for a big girls blouse/someone who is particularly cowardly.

I’ve never heard the word used for that meaning, thanks for explaining.Bin Ont Turf wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 10:44 pmWell my understanding is that it's a derogatory northern term (mainly used in Yorkshire) for a big girls blouse/someone who is particularly cowardly.
Do you seriously think that ordinary people are cowards for not inviting asylum seekers in to their homes?

Thanks, finally at last somebody's grasped that the person interacts with a nationwide audience on a prime TV slot which probably attracts millions of viewers per week, hence the need to maintain a balanced impartial frontfaced persona.Heathclaret wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 10:23 pmBut he’s no longer a sportsman, he’s a television presenter.

He's gonna be cross cross cross when he realises what Marcus Rashford has been doing with HIS money
Re: Gary Lineker
He doesn’t even attempt to be balanced. He’s biased towards Leicester with Spurs as his second team.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 11:16 pmThanks, finally at last somebody's grasped that the person interacts with a nationwide audience on a prime TV slot which probably attracts millions of viewers per week, hence the need to maintain a balanced impartial frontfaced persona.

The more of his posts I read, the more I'm convinced that Jakubclaret is just ablueclaret under a different name.

I've often thought that he's on the wind up but then he says something so incredibly done that it could only be the work of a comedy genius or genuine idiot.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 12:44 amThe more of his posts I read, the more I'm convinced that Jakubclaret is just ablueclaret under a different name.
