It's a shame but it's for the best. He is offering absolutely nothing to BFC so best he just goes - especially if Norwich are paying all of his wages.

That's another chunk off the wage bill which is surely freeing up some decent budget for incomings....

Progress at last, a decent deal for both parties, let’s hope he gets his head together and becomes a footballer again.

Yep didnt work out for either the player or the club so glad to see him off loaded .

I think this works out well for both the player and club. It also removes what must be a constant distraction for the management team.

Wasn't Duffy mainly a regular for Brighton - until recently anyway? At least you know you're going to get 100% from him.

You never know how a signing will work out. This looked a really good one at the time. We'd finished 7th, were in Europe, needed a replacement, in effect, for Michael Keane who had left a year earlier. In comes a highly rated centre half who had enjoyed a Premier League season with Middlesbrough in 2016/17.

We could never have known that, during the difficult first half of 2018/19 that he'd have to have surgery twice which virtually ruled him out until Christmas, or that he would play in the most disastrous of performances or that, after that, Tarkowski and Mee would settle down into what I believe is as good a pairing as there is in the Premier League, certainly outside any of the top six clubs.

I can understand his frustration and that seems to have sparked off the problem. Strangely, had that frustration not got to him he'd have probably played the final seven games last season alongside Tarky and right now with injuries he'd have been in with a very good chance of starting the season against Leicester. I'm sure he'll be reflecting on that now but the fact is that it is better for Burnley Football Club and better for Ben Gibson that he gets some football elsewhere.

I was all for the signing. One of the top defenders in the league, good character by all accounts. This can happen, just all a bit Lemony Snicket.

Whilst I agree he’s been unlucky in so much as you’d expect one of your ‘rival’ centre backs to pick up an injury he’s been massively unprofessional.

The bottom line is there is two lads in possession for two places and he’s the third lad so doesn’t play. He had a chance and got sent off then got another in the cup and was rubbish. You can’t just stamp your feet and say it’s not fair.

What makes his behaviour all the more disappointing is like you say he’d have played the end of last season and beginning of this and could have made himself undroppable.

He may say he didn’t like Dyche or whoever in the long run but how many of us don’t like our boss or someone we work with. We still have to work there.

If I bump into him I’ll give him the fans regards. Good signing for Norwich.

Best we can get I guess. If nothing else it'll free up some money.

Hope he is ok when he realises he will have to play against Boro

There was the thought that, in his head, he never left Boro, so how he'll settle in Norwich might be interesting.

I understood his partner insisted on staying in the North East, so if that is the case, it might be interesting to see if she's agreed to move. Whatever, I think this move will be the make or break for the rest of his footballing career.

No one knows what is said, promised or alluded to when trying to get a player to sign. Am I right in thinking at the time Mee was “stalling” signing a new contract.

ClaretTony nails it in that it looked a good signing and due to events not worked out.

Surprised he is happy to move so far away from his beloved hometown! I think everyone was genuinely excited when we pulled off this signing. Sadly for him we already had two outstanding CB's.

Simple don't spend 15 million for a potential 3rd choice player - we all know Mee and Tarks had some poor games that season after xmas but were never dropped to give Gibson another chance.
In fact too many players these last few seasons have been undroppable and sometimes a change to freshen up a team can help - but will never happen under Dyche

He didnt come as 3rd choice, Ben Mee was yet to sign a new deal, we were in Europe, and Ben Gibson had potential to be 1st choice for a long time due to his age age, ability to play a bit, and being touted for England.

Injuries curtailed that early on, and then soon as Ben Mee was made club captain it was career over here in terms of ever partnering Tarky for any legth of time.

Best for all concerned he moved on, itll all come out in the wash.

Moving Mee inside was one such change (albeit much later than many had called for). We’ve seen similar changes between Lowton and Bardsley, Wood, Rodriguez, Barnes and Vydra.

They may not happen as frequently as some of us may wish but to say it will never happen under Dyche is blatantly untrue. Gibson only had to look at the time Tarkowsky and Keane had taken to break into the team, to see how Dyche works.

Dyche operates a small squad and his approach is returning fantastic results, like it or not.

It is for the best but I don't agree with everything else - how old is Mee now 30 and has never had any sort of pace so this could be his last full season at the top table he though he is a great defender he has also been shown for what his weaknesses are

Because he’s 30 and “never had any sort of pace” would more likely be a reason for longevity as opposed to it being his last season at the top table.

How often is Mee shown up?

I wonder if it's written into the loan deal deal that he can't play against his " home " Club, ie: Middlesbrough ...

People seem to forget that for our initial outlay we've had a player who we might have needed and could have used. Even reserves cost money.

Will be ill or injured.
