I'd been living in London for a few years when we played and beat Hearts home and away and it still brings a smile to my face. I was sharing a house with a groups of Scots guys, all of whom were a great bunch, apart from a gobby loud mouthed racist/catholic hating Hearts fan. What fun I had after the 3-0 away win and then him talking ******** about the return leg which ended up being a 5-0 thumping. Happy days.

I have to say that of those four games, I saw three, and the one I missed was the 1-4 in 1970.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 2:35 pmLatest friendly confirmed - reminder of my early trips to Scotland to see the Clarets

'...Mick Docherty, Dave Merrington and Steve Kindon all scoring in a 3-1 win. We thought that was more than enough but just over two weeks later we fell to a 4-1 defeat at Tynecastle, Frank Casper, scoring our goal, and out we went...'
win 1st leg 3 - 1 and lose 2nd leg away 4 -1
...sounds depressingly familiar!

That never registered to be honest, the same scores as 1961 against Hamburg.claretblue wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 11:09 am'...Mick Docherty, Dave Merrington and Steve Kindon all scoring in a 3-1 win. Talking of cup games, it's the draw for the Carabao Cup on Sunday. I wonder who we'll get knocked out by this time, so we can concentrate on the league?
Maybe I'm being a bit cynical, but that's the way it's been for years now.
I'd love a decent cup run.

No indication on the Burney webpage of any coverage at all of the Hearts match. Not even a Phil Bird commentary. I wonder why?
Anybody know anything different?

No facilities to do commentary from the training ground. It will be the same as the Shrewsbury/Tranmere games. Just updated on Twitter
