Thank the lord this has been concluded, and let's hope the Canaries fly high next season, now maybe we can crack on with the rest of our transfer business.

A loan at this moment in time is probably for the best.
I think we would have had to take a substantial loss on any sale.

Re: Gibson to Norwich confirmed
Good news for us, and him.
I will always back the manager in these situations and from my outsider perspective, he appears to have behaved like an immature lad. I hope he goes there and proves a big success and wins promotion as it will be good for us and him.
I will be more than happy to replace Gibson with a clear backup now after this experience - someone solid and reliable, but happy to understand they're behind Mee and Tarkowski. I hope there is a bit of truth in the rumour the other day about Bennett, he would be ideal for this.

It’s been like waiting for your ex to move out after she confessed to not loving you anymore and wanting someone else...
Still, all the best to the lad, I hope he gets everything he deserves in life

I'd love to place a bet right now, but I don't gamble.
If Norwich get promoted and Burnley don't go down, I'll be very surprised if Gibson isn't 'injured' when Norwich come to Bunley, soft sod that he is.

If we played them and we'd sold him to them then I'm damn sure he'd want to get out there and show us how good a player he is (or he thinks he is).Gordaleman wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 7:45 pmI'd love to place a bet right now, but I don't gamble.

Can you imagine if he's the only who one who misses in this season's Play-Off Final penalty shootout?

Good luck to the lad, hope he can get his career going again. Was never given a chance with us, despite being our joint record signing.

Shame we couldn’t get him back in the team this pre season, seems bridges were burnt, bit silly really as due to Mees injury we now need a left sided defender, hopefully lessons are learned from all this.

On the basis that he went crying home to his family when he didn't get what he wanted. Simple.

Re: Gibson to Norwich confirmed
Some interesting comments from Dyche on Gibson yesterday. Doesn’t sound like his “rift” was as bad as the media portrayed. And what is the “business decision”? Getting him off the wage bill? To prevent further fees from being payable? Or to assist another deal in the pipeline? Or just a cover story for a massive falling out?
“It wasn't a case of reconciliation I can assure you, I spoke to Gibbo a few times, I sent him a message the other day to say 'I hope it goes really well for you.'
There was a certain situation and a moment in time and it doesn't continue after that.
I wouldn't say I have a grudge with any player I have worked with, good or bad, and certainly not him.
There was a business decision made as much as anything so he has gone on to pastures new, at the moment, and we will see how that goes but hopefully it goes very well for him.”

Re: Gibson to Norwich confirmed
Like maybe waiting for your own player to be sold before bringing his replacement in? Never in a million, trillion years have we bought a player for £13m+ for him to sit on the bench - not a snowballs. And no way would the captain of a promotion chasing championship side sign for a PL club on the understanding he’s there to be back up. If he’s done his research and his agent has done his job, he knows exactly how we operate, so I can’t help but wonder what exactly he’s been told will happen when he signs for us.Giftonsnoidea wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 8:12 pmShame we couldn’t get him back in the team this pre season, seems bridges were burnt, bit silly really as due to Mees injury we now need a left sided defender, hopefully lessons are learned from all this.
Anyway, who’s silly, the club or Gibson?
Re: Gibson to Norwich confirmed
Dyche strikes me as the type of person who deals with a situation at the time and that's the end of it. Life's too short for grudges but you'll only be told once.

Good luck to him, hope it works out there.
He's a good player and if Mee had left or been injured he would've been a more than capable replacement.

Re: Gibson to Norwich confirmed
I'm pretty sure it's the mature, grown up way. It's also very positive for all the other club employees/players, it will maintain their motivation and their own personal confidence in the club whether they feel they should be "first name on the team sheet," are out of the team as they work their way back from injury or anywhere in-between.
Lot's of respect for Sean Dyche and his management of relationships. I'm pretty sure Mike Garlick feels the same.

Re: Gibson to Norwich confirmed
Precisely. He's been very diplomatic in his recent comments but Dyche's actions in first fobbing him off to train with Middlesbrough and then getting him out of the door asap tell us more than he was ever likely to let on in an interview.

I often wonder if there's any point in interviewing Sean Dyche, apart from his usual jovial manner which can be entertaining, he gives absolutely nothing away.

It sounds like a position was reached where an apology wasn't sufficient to let bygones be bygones.
I'm sure SD could have solved the problem if the problem could have been solved, but sometimes there is just no going back. I'm sure, in the long run, it's a worse problem for Gibson than Burnley's.

i've never heard him criticise a player or the team. He gives little indication of his feelings.

Re: Gibson to Norwich confirmed
Haven’t watched the latest interview but some of the questions he faces are just repetitions of what has just been asked. It’s as though the journalist has pre set questions and can’t think on the spot if someone else has already asked the same question. Must get tiresome. He is very professional in the way he backs his players publicly. Very different style to some managers. Definitely think businesses could benefit from Dyche’s management and motivation skills somewhere along the line.
Re: Gibson to Norwich confirmed
If it was a spat between Woan and Gibson (and I’m obviously only guessing here.....) I reckon Dyche may not have had many other options, if he wanted to maintain harmony with Woan.Nonayforever wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 7:59 pmReading between the lines and from the additional posts,

He and Woan have a long standing relationship and I can well imagine Woan’s toys coming out of the pram to the point that Gibson was initially told not to return and latterly loaned out.
If we’d given Gibson another chance, Woan would have had a proper little man hissy!!
Perhaps unlikely but I do think that Woan appears to be that sort of character!!

Yep, deals with the media brilliantly. Which is I a key aspect of the job. Would make a good politician - speaks a lot without saying anything.
