James Rodriguez signs for Everton for £20 million
Everton have signed James Rodriguez from Real Madrid !
Re: Rodriguez signs for Everton for £20 million
Poor effort, if you'd said J Rodriguez you might have caught a couple.

Going to be interesting to see if he can recapture the form that got RM to sign him.
They haven't shifted anyone out the door yet have they?
I'd have that Tom Davies.

Re: James Rodriguez signs for Everton for £20 million
I think he'll be widely recognised as the transfer flop of the season in around 6 months time.
Isn't cut out for the Premier League, especially at a midtable side, he doesn't have the physicality required to cope with the intensity and he's made of glass. His season will be one or two moments of magic interspersed with long injury absences and anonymous performances IMO.

Flop of the season at just £20 million?
We will see how that pans out

James Rodríguez for £20m or Callum Wilson for the same?
I know who I’d rather have, and it isn’t the lad from Bournemouth.

J-Rod? They should be wary of cheap imitations!...

Anyone watch the game?
I know he played a full 90mins and they're on the verge of winning.

He played quite well. Great first touch.
The jury was out for me but last week it was said it was a free transfer because Real needed him off the wage bill desperately.
They all seemed lacking in match fitness.

Re: James Rodriguez signs for Everton for £20 million
Whenever I watched him at Real, he never looked to be anything special.
I think it's one of those with someone having a blinding major tournament (think it was the World Cup 2014) and then having to live up to it, which he never did.

Everton much improved from last season. Some good signings. I can see them pushing the top 6 this season

Stats man on twitter saying he created 5 chances today on his debut. The most in one game by an Everton player in over 2 years.

Played fantastic and matched the physicality too.

Re: James Rodriguez signs for Everton for £20 million
Apparently, according to Gary Neville James played well
He missed a couple of easy shots and contributed little but hes an ex Galactico so that meant he was class .Bxxxxxxs. Calvert Lewin looked far better
Spurs were awful and flattered Everton
Everton will not finish in the top six despite the hype

Re: James Rodriguez signs for Everton for £20 million
Yeah, as I only walked through and watched 5 or so minutes now and again he didn't really seem involved. But that's not to say he didn't do well. I watched a lot more him in Spain and I don't think he was all that. It might be why he was sold for like £20 million and not £120 million.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 8:25 pmApparently, according to Gary Neville James played well

Re: James Rodriguez signs for Everton for £20 million
The question was how he played not did he play better than Calvert lewin because he was fantastic as was James. No-one said Everton will finish in the top 6 so what hype? Going off that performance they could sneak it mind.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 8:25 pmApparently, according to Gary Neville James played well

Re: James Rodriguez signs for Everton for £20 million
I've only seen the match reports, but by all accounts he was solid, and produced the big save when he had too, Spurs didn't exactly overwork him though.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 8:30 pmHow did Pickford play? This Rodriguez chap looks a good signing for only £20m, Everton were impressive, but Spurs were dire, and they looked miles off the pace.

Thought he looked good, as did Everton. Hard to judge as Spurs were horrible. Think Jose might be a busted flush, hasn't done too well lately.

Re: James Rodriguez signs for Everton for £20 million
Watched first half and fleetingly the second. Everton have made progress, no doubt Rodriguez looked classy and Allan very industrious. Early days but I feel Everton are on the up just as Spurs are on a downward trajectory. Just a hunch but I think they're in for a poor season by their recent standards.
Re: James Rodriguez signs for Everton for £20 million
Apparently Everton didn't pay anything for him.
Transfermarkt is usually pretty reliable:
"In James Rodríguez from Real Madrid, Everton announced one of the most prestigious signings in the club's history on Monday evening. According to information acquired by Transfermarkt, the 29-year-old did not – as initially reported – cost €25 million, but moved to the Premier League for free."
'Instead of a fee, Los Blancos secured themselves a sell-on clause, which would earn them a percentage of the Colombian’s next transfer fee. The percentage is understood to be in the lower and conventional range. As a result, Everton completed one of the biggest free transfers in the history of football. '

Apparently another very good game, another goal and their main focal point /creative spark.
Going to be interesting to see if he can carry this on for the season.

Has been brilliant today.
Re: James Rodriguez signs for Everton for £20 million
Didn’t watch today but he was outstanding last week, ran the show against Spurs and barely gave the ball away. Allan and Doucoure also impressive, they look to have a great balance in midfield now.
