Maitland-Niles, potentially the 4th right back in the team and he gets the nod ahead of Taylor.. When we have no left backs. If Taylor played for Leeds would he be in the squad?

Need to be better through the middle.

Too predictable down the wings. Need to be better at mixing it up.

To be fair, Taylor does play left back.

EDIT:- why did I type that ?

That's two games with one shot on target excluding the pen. That's worse than us at our lowest game.

Ben Mee like defending from Jørgensen. 1 year left on his contract at Fenerbahce.

We could have signed him from Huddersfield..

You can see why he didn’t achieve anything in club football as a manager, tactically he’s clueless

Great point, the 2 holding midfielders and 3 at the back justified by managing to keep Denmark at bay

What a bag of toss !!!

Stop wasting England fans time - either play to our strengths (he says!), or say - we are going for a tactical and strategic outcome that benefits our stakeholders, members and corporate sponsors ....

Like what, playing shite on purpose?

There is no tactical or strategic plan - Southgate really is just clueless.

No, not at all BurnleyFC ... I would hope that no manager or player, England or otherwise, goes out there on the pitch to play shite on purpose.

But I do find it highly irritating that certain England players are played out of position, others who are out of form v in form players, and just generally boring, cockwomble tactics deployed ..... how Gareth is able to keep his little FA blazer and his £3m+ salary and endorsement contracts in tact is just mind boggling!!!

On missing a left-footed player: "But where is that player? I keep hearing that argument but I think [Kieran] Trippier has had two excellent games for us. [Ben] Chilwell is injured, Shaw is injured, Danny [Rose] has not really been involved with Spurs at the moment. So we adapted in the best way we could."

Think back over the world class players and in particular the spines of our teams from ‘90, ‘96, ‘04 and then look at this shower.
It’s not all down to Southgate. He’s been dealt a very poor hand. The reason he sticks with youth is praying they come good in the future but there are no promises.
He has made some terrible selections and from the comment above re: no LBs available he has no idea where Charlie Taylor was born.
I couldn’t get over him bringing A M-N on and then putting him at RB and leaving Tripps at LB. They both naturally play on the opposite side.

Watched the farming programme on BBC2 far more exciting than watching yon over paid tossers.

Some crap spouted about past and present England teams. This lot are no worse or any better than the under achieving dross we had to watch in the 90s and zeros.

Remember we haven't won owt since 1966 and I was lucky enough to be at Wembley that day

If only he would dump the 2 holding midfield system keep either Phillips or Rice not both, bring in Foden and Grealish, we would rip the Danes apart, as it is it may be tougher than it need be

No, I just don’t see why anyone would think that at this stage of the tournament it would be a good idea to ditch the two ‘holding’ midfielders that have been completely integral to our success so far, particularly in achieving the impressive feat of 5 clean sheets in a row.

Who are you planning to drop and what shape would you play to accommodate Foden and Grealish?

Goalkeeper and back 4,1 holding MF, Foden, Mount, Grealish, Stirling Kane. I don't believe that the 2 holding MF are the reason we haven't conceded

You don’t think that Rice and Phillips have been integral to our defensive record? Really? A caption came on screen during the Ukraine game showing that Phillips alone has made 28 interceptions in the tournament to date.

Rice and Philips have been sensational, can't wait for the meltdown in Leeds when Man City decide they want him Philips. Rice will be sold this summer I reckon

Did I say Rice and Phillips were bad, I said that they were not the reason for our clean sheets. Still if we beat Denmark, however achieved it won't matter

Rice and Phillips are a huge part of the reason we have kept 5 clean sheets and you simply do not understand football if you cannot see that.

Back four to stay the same along with midfield holding two on the mantra of "if it ain't broke don't fix it."
Up front I'd bring in Foden for Mount and ask Sterling, Sancho and Foden to run at the Danes with Saka and Mount to be subs on around 60 minutes. I doubt the Danes would handle their pace and Kane would get lots of chances. Southgate has a wealth of talent at his disposal and with a solid defence behind them the forwards can take risks. Simples :)

Wouldn't tinker too much with the Ukraine starting eleven. Definitely start with the back four and two holding midfielders. Those Danes like runners from midfield.
I'd play Saka if fit to occupy Maehle's mind more. Possibly Grealish for Mount though he did nothing wrong. I'd like Shaw to push on more than he did in the first half though.
I fancy a 3-1 to us.

At the start I was demanding one holding midfielder with the wealth of attacking talent we have.
But his cautious tactics have worked a treat. Not always easy on the eye but it's worked so far.

We have had an easy ish tournament so far and the outfield players have managed to have a rest at some point (maybe Stones has played all the games). The squad is in as good a shape as you could hope.

How can anyone be calling for moving away from the stable Rive-Phillips combo? Our success is essentially that we are difficult to beat and up front have players who can change a game in a moment.

As for Denmark being better than Ukraine - better than Germany better? Don't get me wrong, it won't be an easy game and the Danes have real momentum, but they've beaten Russia, Wales and the Czechs - thats an easier ride than us!!
