TYA played Woodstock, were very big back in that period. Alvin played really fast and did some good blues/rock.The Enclosure wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 5:24 pmWe will all have our favourites and I could have made a list of 30 or more. These are my top six in no particular order.Dont bother if your favourites are different to other peoples...so no falling out please

I’ve seen Alvin Lee at Colne Muni!
Impossible to give 5 as we have been blessed with great guitarists over the years.
One not been mentioned is Prince. Check out his ‘My Guitar Gently Weeps’ collaboration.

Re: Your top six favourite guitar players
No female guitarists mentioned yet that I can see so I'm going to add one to the umpteen chaps I listed earlier:
Joni Mitchell.
I like Rory Block's playing a lot too- albeit fairly derivative country-blues style.

Re: Your top six favourite guitar players
Good to see Alvin Lee get a few mentions, I followed TYA as a teen and saw them live a few times. Good Morning Little Schoolgirl may not be PC now but as a 16 year old it rocked. Alvin also was recognised as one of the world's fastest guitarists. Here at the Isle of Wight.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElLKfGF ... inolibrary

That was the first TYA album I bought at 16, from there I worked forward and backwards, I think SSSH was the third but it was the best IMO.The Enclosure wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 7:17 pmThe album i bought today was called ssssh by TVA. Re: Your top six favourite guitar players
Surprised to see Joni Mitchell getting nominations. The story back in the day was she had her guitar tuned to basically play bar chords. Heard her not seen her so maybe her fans can correct my ignorance.
For a female guitarist I’ll throw in Joan Armatrading. Now that lass can rock it up.

I had the self same album in mono, 1969, all the rest I got in stereo then foolishly sold them on Accrington market when I moved to Crete.
