How does SD work with no budget ???
We must waste a awful lot of time discussing non starters ?? SD might as well go on championship manager and start with Ronaldo and Messi and continue right down to the Drinkwaters.
Where does he start ?? we need a central defender ? right does he start with premiership centre half out of favour or currently a back up - say he does just for pure example Phil Jones - does he rule that out right away in his head because "he thinks" a non starter - wages far too high ?? or does he still run that by the board and wait for a response ??
Does he start automatically championship clubs only ? then you look at the rumours about Worrell and does he think no got to look lower down then that ???
How does he ever get anything over the line with this system ?

What system?
Just a lot of questions
Just a lot of questions
Re: How does SD work with no budget ???
After lockdown we got 15 points from the last 9 matches with a patched up team.
Re: How does SD work with no budget ???
He normally doesn't until the last minute when players options have run out and their club will sell at the right price for us.

Posted the below on the Transfer News Post.
Curious to know how we actually function?
Does Dyche tell Rigg and recruitment team what players/positions he thinks
the team need and then they go out and identify one or two possibles.
Does Dyche let them know if there's anyone he really likes/wants?
And then do they approach the Chairman with their top targets
and the first question he asks is guess what?
How much are they worth or would be willing to offer?
And then the Chairman works out how much we will need to keep our
heads above water over the coming season (with reduced revenues?)
And then what?

It's a bit like my marriage. The Mrs runs the finances, she tells me what I like and when I can have it.

I don't know, but by doing it he's taken us from a below average Championship club with no youth system to a team that's about to go into a fifth successive Premier League season with a Category 1 academy.kenyon6923 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 2:44 pm

He’s been at the club eight years, I’m sure by now he knows what is and isn’t a non-starter for the club whether he has a budget or not.kenyon6923 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 2:44 pmWe must waste a awful lot of time discussing non starters ?? Whatever he's doing - keep doing it.
Re: How does SD work with no budget ???
The idea that some players aren't good enough for the Premier league is a bit outdated.
As long as they fit into a system that is good enough for the Premier league then that's all that matters. That's why we have been successful in recent times, by identifying players who are likely to fit into our system.

Re: How does SD work with no budget ???
Of course there is a "budget". We can only spend so much money.
Dyche was making a rhetorical point about how transfers are approached. It isn't a case of the board saying "You have £XX million, spend it." It's the other way round: We identify areas we want to strengthen and try and buy players at a price we feel reasonable.
Our net spend has to come under a figure based on our finances. You could call that a "budget" if you like but unlike a budget set from the outset, it has flexibility and doesn't encourage over-spending simply to meet "the budget" - something which happens in all walks of life.

Re: How does SD work with no budget ???
In a similar way to Christian Streich, Manager of SC Freiburg, who, like Sean, has been the manager for more than 8 years. SCF have a great Fussballschule (similar to the Burnley Academy), based at the former Freiburger FC stadium. Christian used to be in charge of the Fussballschule so has has a similar history to Sean. SCF develop players from the Fussballschule and buy wisely without a great deal of money. They then sell players to bigger clubs - in many Bundesliga clubs there are former players from SCF.
