When the badge was changed to the current one there was no consultation with fans at all it was just changed, no reason why it can’t be changed back or a different one made.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 1:19 pmOur badge is our badge. No reason at all. But then that badge should be the same across all our strips.Giftonsnoidea wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 2:21 pmWhen the badge was changed to the current one there was no consultation with fans at all it was just changed, no reason why it can’t be changed back or a different one made.
Agree with that, but while it is the badge it should remain the badge and not be tampered with.Giftonsnoidea wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 2:21 pmWhen the badge was changed to the current one there was no consultation with fans at all it was just changed, no reason why it can’t be changed back or a different one made.
I know you’ll never be convinced, but for me the badge is the crest, not the colours. I wouldn’t want the crest changed or messed around with, just the colours so it suits the kit.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 2:30 pmAgree with that, but while it is the badge it should remain the badge and not be tampered with.
Fair enough, that looks crap. I’ll shut up.CombatClaret wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 2:38 pmNo, It need's a splash of colour otherwise it looks like it came out of the photocopier.

It's all opinion but I don't like the tonal badges. That badge is our identity right across the world, it should be consistent.NewClaret wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 2:35 pmI know you’ll never be convinced, but for me the badge is the crest, not the colours. I don’t think the light blue background / yellow border suits all kits, especially black in this instance.
Personally prefer the old badge with no blue background / yellow border, so suppose we wouldn’t be having this debate if we’d kept that.
I would be interested to know amongst fans which badge they prefer the present one or the one when Coyle was manager and the one in the nineties.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 2:30 pmAgree with that, but while it is the badge it should remain the badge and not be tampered with.
I’m not arguing one badge against the other just that I think that whatever badge you have should always be in the correct colours.Giftonsnoidea wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 2:49 pmI would be interested to know amongst fans which badge they prefer the present one or the one when Coyle was manager and the one in the nineties.
Maybe the club should ask us which we prefer?
Not having a go at you Tony just irritates me this present one
The one in the 90’s was the one which was designed circa 1974/75. The club had a competition to design a new crest. Can’t rememember what the prize was, possibly a season ticket? Tony will probably remember.Giftonsnoidea wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 2:49 pmI would be interested to know amongst fans which badge they prefer the present one or the one when Coyle was manager and the one in the nineties.

As it happens the club did. But I’m entitled to my own opinion thanks very much.

I know why they changed badge. The club were planning to put the old County Borough Coat of Arms back on the shirts in 2009/10 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of winning the title. As it happened, we were promoted and we got worldwide exposure. The club then felt that the coat of arms was recognised across the world so they adapted it and continued with it.
You are right, there was no consultation whatsoever and we’ve seen issues at other clubs, notably Everton, where they have changed it.
I was brought up watching us in the 1960s when we wore the coat of arms and I think I prefer this current adapted badge. But I appreciate that a lot of people don’t and I don’t think it should have been changed without proper consultation.
Great design as well, mind boggling why it was changed into this old school one which makes the club look ancient.
I think I know I'm right, I was in the meeting when it was said. Didn't see you there.
It was introduced in 1973 but not worn on any kit until 1975/76 and then only the away kit. First worn on the home kit once the shirt with the big V was replaced.
I wonder whether you would have a chance of getting it changed now. We have a major problem in any case in that we don't always use the correct badge, too many examples around the ground. Makes us look like a really unprofessional outfit.Giftonsnoidea wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 3:45 pmThanks for clarifying Tony I’d like to see some proper consultation maybe before next season on its popularity ( this new badge) as I think it could be a real boost to the coffers to get some designs and a badge that the majority of fans agree on.
There is a reason the old shirts go for so much on eBay so they must have done something right in the nineties especially the Ribero kits etc.

Still prefer that badgeClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 12:03 pmApparently has the old club badge woven into the fabric
I'll teach you some day then you are not quite so arrogant and I've still got the minutes from the meeting which was conducted with supporters groups.
It's personal choice and so many Burnley fans can't remember using the old coat of arms so I can fully understand why they would definitely prefer the one that was ditched in 2010. And I couldn't agree more that there should have been consultation before there was any such change.
Yeah, I’ve mates with both, the colours have faded and look awfulClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 5:07 pmIt's personal choice and so many Burnley fans can't remember using the old coat of arms so I can fully understand why they would definitely prefer the one that was ditched in 2010. At least I don't do tattoos and didn't have to get another one done
I got the 70s, 80s,90s,00s crest tattooed on my arm when I was very young. Had arms like twigs so when the tattooist came to writing 'Burnley Football Club' on the banner he could only fit on 'Burnley FC'ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 5:07 pmIt's personal choice and so many Burnley fans can't remember using the old coat of arms so I can fully understand why they would definitely prefer the one that was ditched in 2010. Firthy wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 5:24 pmAfter seeing the close up of the collar and the claret on one side I thought the shirt could do with a claret stripe on the other sleeve. On closer inspection there is a matching claret stripe on the other sleeve, probably more evident in the flesh. Prefer this to the new home strip.
£box_of_frogs wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 5:47 pmDecent other than the gambling logo on the front and the sleeve. Why it needs to be in both I don’t know.
You can have two different shirt sponsorship deals on your shirts, one front and one sleeve. We’ve just opted to go for the same company for both.box_of_frogs wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 5:47 pmDecent other than the gambling logo on the front and the sleeve. Why it needs to be in both I don’t know.
A lot of clubs have gambling logos. Sign of the times and clubs can't afford not to have a sponsor.box_of_frogs wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 5:47 pmDecent other than the gambling logo on the front and the sleeve. Why it needs to be in both I don’t know.
Its in the weave on the material of the new shirt...The Enclosure wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 5:36 pmimages.jpegI preferred this badge. but its all about opinions.
