Dash Cam Footage
Dash Cam Footage
I have some dash cam footage of a complete bellend in a mercedes almost hitting my car cutting in at the top of Vivary way then undertaking me at the next roundabout and giving me the finger. I would like to upload this to the Lancashire Police but can't find where to do it. I have found the West Yorkshire one easily enough but the incident was in Colne so I need the Lancs one. Does anyone know how to do this?

Re: Dash Cam Footage
Can't you take it to the nearest police station?
Re: Dash Cam Footage
I'm not sure of the correct procedure. Most regions have a dash cam footage team where you can upload directly from their website but I can't find one on the Lancs police website.

Cheers FF , It just says contact the force directly when you click on Lancashire so I assume there is no portal for uploading footage.

I had a look on the west yorks site and it says you shouldn't upload footage to social media if you want them to review it. Simple process on west yorks police site but i need lancs police.

Standard of driving it awful and seems to be getting worse.
Vivary way seems to be a daily occurrence of local cars who pretend they didn't know the right lane is turn right.

It certainly is,you get bellends charging up the right hand lane and cutting people up to get in the left lane. Time they had a barrier near the top to stop the cnuts from doing it.

Re: Dash Cam Footage
It looks like you have to contact Lancs police to report an incident.
This is from Lancs Telegraph in 2018
Nextbase, a UK run dashcam manufacturer have launched the new dashcam portal in England and Wales.
Launched this month, it will see drivers effectively send not only footage of incidents, but also witness statements that can be used in court.
The portal will link drivers to the police far easier than before. Submissions previously were via social media, email, or providing hard copies.
Many UK police forces are already behind the new scheme, with West Mercia also using it, however, Lancashire Police have no plans to do the same.
A spokesman for the Lancashire Police, said: “We don’t use this service and there are no plans to.
We have online reporting which allows footage to be submitted to us directly, rather than via a third party. This has been the case since 2015.”
Submissions are accepted by any dashcam and will require a form to be filled in online before sending it off.
Not sure if this is till the case, just stuff I googled. Hope it helps

I was waiting at the traffic lights from Alkincoats park and have a dashcam of an Asian overtaking on the wrong side of the rd coming up vivary way from Nelson when the lights were at red .. Calmly cutting back in after the lights.. Just a pity I didn't get his license plate on the dashcam..karatekid wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 6:12 pmI have some dash cam footage of a complete bellend in a mercedes almost hitting my car cutting in at the top of Vivary way then undertaking me at the next roundabout and giving me the finger. Were you driving too slow or erratically like some old nervous driver? Sometimes its safer to take the initiative and be more aggressive when you are around poor drivers (especially those over 50)

Must be something about Mercedes drivers today. I was coming out of Pendle Way onto the Gannow top roundabout, when a Mercedes stopped suddenly and tried to go from Lane 2 to turn down Pendle Way in about 20 yards ... absolute chao, he got hit by a van, cars were screeching to halt. Elderly white male driver ....

Re: Dash Cam Footage
there was an accident at gannow top which my brother nearly got hit as he was approaching from the m65 where a focus and 206 ended up crashing into each other. From the video he sent me, I cant still work out how or what happened. Thats another bit of the local roads where you need your wits about youClarets4me wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 8:05 pmMust be something about Mercedes drivers today. It's a sad affair when we all know who the culprits are, but have our mouths stitched because we have become the minority and then if we say what we know is right we are the racist oops

Re: Dash Cam Footage
It's a very easy set of roundabouts to negotiate once you are used to them. It does require a bit of forward planning in that you need to be in the correct lane at the first roundabout to be in the right lane for where you want to go on the second.
The biggest problem I have found is the sheer amount of drivers who take the right lane coming up Westgate to the first roundabout and once they are in the outside lane approaching the M65 turn off before the second (on the railway bridge..heading towards Padiham) they find themselves in the wrong lane and try to cut in and across. Some out of being unawares and many doing it out of being too lazy to queue to be in the right lane at the first roundabout. I have often been cut up this way..but I am wary of it now and just stay fairly close to the car in front to cut their temptation. If they miss the turning they have to go all the way back round both roundabouts to try again.
I once saw one car who must have missed the turning and on coming back the other way decided to give the Ballaro roundabout a miss and actually drove over the reservation to get onto the motorway. Luckily the traffic approaching stopped. I genuinely couldn't believe what i was seeing.

speed camera vans pitch up at the most pointless locations, meanwhile idiots are blasting through 30/40 zones at motorway speed.
I was waiting to pull out onto padiham bypass this week, one driver thought nothing of overtaking on a bend and came within inches of head on crash with totally innocent driver of vehicle coming from opp direction . sickening what's going on. the ***** really do not give a **** for anyone else.

Re: Dash Cam Footage
you can apparently upload footage via the reportitonline.lancashire.police.uk
Website but it's a convoluted process and when I tried to upload from my Nextbase dash cam relating to a knoblet hurtling around on an.unregistered scrambler the website told me the file was too large.

I had same problem on that site, max upload 60mb and my video file is 123mb. It is more for uploading photos.

There's an appeal in the LET today for some dashcam footage and they ask that you either
ring 101 OR 0800 555 111 for the charity, Crimestoppers.
Hope this helps you shop the inconsiderate, dangerous b@stards.

Re: Dash Cam Footage
I've dredged up this old thread after reading an article in The Telegraph today about the increased number of drivers sending camera footage to the police and a subsequently decent amount (25%) becoming prosecutions.
I've not seen stats before but the article says:
32,000 dashcam clips were received by police in 2019- leading to 8,000 prosecutions.
32k was more than double the 2018 figure and I'd guess it's likely that 2020 will have seen another increase.
I'm not a driver nowadays but (as a pedestrian and occasional cyclist) I find this quite encouraging. I know there's a thing about "grassing" but a fair number of the sort of miscreant drivers being picked up/prosecuted this way are likely to be a danger to the well being of other road users rather than people going a few mph over the limit.
