Sue Barker to leave QOS
No Sunday Supplement
Clive Tyldesley axed as main ITV commentator
Three big casualties on Soccer Saturday
And now
Sue Barker, Matt Dawson & Phil Tufnell all to be axed from Question of Sport.

Re: Sue Barker to leave QOS
Anybody who watched soccer Saturday would have seen that the changes were not for the better.
Not sure why Morrison was on, certainly not for his grasp of the English language, or his football knowledge.
I haven't watched question of sport for quite a while, but they will struggle to find anyone better than Sue Barker, in that format.

Re: Sue Barker to leave QOS
Too many of us oldies enjoy programmes and, as far as the BBC is concerned, that isn't good because they want to attract young viewers for their future.
No doubt the new presenter and team captains will fill every tick in the box when it comes to PC, diversity and just about every criteria which must be filled by a certain brigade these days.

The BBC probably has decided on a more diverse panel .

This could have been equally claimed when Sue Barker took over from David Coleman but everyone seems ok with her now.expoultryboy wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 1:52 pmThe BBC probably has decided on a more diverse panel .
I think the issue is more to do with the snowflakes who see every change as some agenda driven attack on their way of life rather than just accepting that TV programs for as long as they have existed have always changed personal and tried to keep up with the current times

Re: Sue Barker to leave QOS
A disabled black lesbian with a speech impediment should cover it...
Seriously tho, I get representing society on tv as accurately as possible really I do, but we have absolutely no chance Of getting it right as long as programmes like eastenders and Corrie continually make false representation. The BBC can’t wait to take it to the edge of sanity... only a few months ago they were advertising for a junior apprentice journalist, and only females from an Asian background need apply. How can that make everything right?
Right, off to a football thread...

Re: Sue Barker to leave QOS
All TV companies are now bending over backwards to show that they are adhering to practices that show diversity. A Soccer Saturday Panel of an elderly male white presenter (Jeff Stelling) and 4 elderly/middle aged white male pundits in Paul Merson, Matt Le Tissier, Phil Thompson and Charlie Nicholas hardly demonstrated diversity.
I would be surprised if Question of Sport returns with an all white cast of presenter and team captains. I cannot recall the show ever having a non white presenter or team captain over it's long history having first aired in 1970.

Re: Sue Barker to leave QOS
Agree with your comments re: Morrison but I noticed Sherwood waving his arms around in appreciation of ' Champagne Charlie'. The woman from Liverpool is just awful to listen to and so the sound is turned off when her face appears. Pulis doesn't look right without his tracksuit and cap. Time to move Jeff Selling soon if DA's theory holds water. I expect Jeremy Paxman is also feeling a bit uneasy with today's revelations.Grumps wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 1:46 pmAnybody who watched soccer Saturday would have seen that the changes were not for the better.

Not wishing to appear voicist but Clinton Morrison needs to visit a bloody speech therapist and get rid of the "gangsta" tones ... its indecypherable at times...kentonclaret wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 2:07 pmAll TV companies are now bending over backwards to show that they are adhering to practices that show diversity. Also did Sky not hear the podcast made by Jon Parkin where Morrison had got in his face and said "if you ever come to London I will shoot you bruv" before employing him

If ever a tv show needed a refresh, it’s QOS. The same tired old format for years and years now.

BBC Question Of Sport first aired on 5 January 1970 and during that period has only ever had 3 presenters, David Vine, David Coleman and Sue Barker.

its bound to get some of those women from football clubs that get to play for teams with real names, you know, the ones that confuse us all when we see results/fixtures like Arsenal versus Chelsea, then the penny drops and you realise its just the womens version of the sport.

The main concern should be whether they are entertaining. That does not seem to be a concern anymore for desperate tv execs and their re educating of wrong thinkers.claret2018 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 2:45 pmOh no, people who don’t look like me are going to be on the telly

Be careful what you wish for. Wouldn't surprise me if we got Flintoff and the hilarious Paddy McGuinness as captains.
All we'd need then would be 'Arry Redknapp as presenter - and bingo!
Mind you it would be hilarious to read this board if we got Lineker as the presenter.

Re: Sue Barker to leave QOS
Apparently they are lining up Alan Carr as the new presenter. This will be seen as a win-win situation as he ticks both the diversity and entertainer boxes
Team Captain roles still up for grabs though Sam Allardyce is top of the list if they can afford his salary demands

Re: Sue Barker to leave QOS
Is it only me who's noticed the under-representation of White British players in the Premier League, compared to the population at large ? Or can we just agree to celebrate the fact that players are ( by and large ) picked on ability and worth, and not any other factors ?

Not watched it in about 10 years.
Still won't when they replace the current cast with box tickers
It won't matter obviously, because the BBC don't rely on their own viewing figures to generate their income
