Vydra link
Can’t see it anywhere else, but Vydra to Derby on a season loan to buy deal appears to be trending on Twitter. Not a reliable source of course but would be surprised if we let him go without Barnes being ready to go.

Re: Vydra link
For it to be trending on Twitter there has to be something in it. He's also been photographed/spotted in Derby.
What a strange situation though must mean we're going to be buying someone else. Shame because I really like Vydra, he's different than our other forwards though he must be wanting more first team football which we can't offer him.

Oh dear.
Anyway, hope it's not true. Shown his class when been given the chance but maybe he's desperate for first team football.

Sorry, what I mean is, for there to be that much traction on Twitter there must be a reason for that discussion to be taking place. I didn't mean that Twitter is a trusted SOURCE, per-se, but there has to be a reason for it to be trending on Twitter.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 1:50 pm"For it to be trending on Twitter there has to be something in it."

When I watched the Liverpool-Leeds game that shouted out as a game that Vydra would love. He'd have torn both defences to pieces with how shockingly bad they were.

Re: Vydra link
Can Vydra play right wing? I don't think we've many options if JBG gets injured or tires during a match. I'm not convinced by Brady or Dwight on the right.
Vydra is a game changer for me. We don't play the same football when he's on the pitch as we do with two big men. I think he's the perfect super-sub if he's prepared to accept that sort of role.
I'd be really disappointed if he left now, I think he's really seized his chance since lockdown and I hope he gets enough game time to keep him happy.
To be honest with so few players I don't think we can really afford to lose anyone.

We are struggling to get one replacement in. Let’s not try to run before we can walk ...... maybe Garlick thinks letting go of 5 and signing one means we’ve made a signing and had a good window.

If Dyche thinks one of the young strikers is good enough to make it it might make sense to get Vydra out on loan.

Re: Vydra link
Isn't this Quaison lad a striker?
If we're close to signing him it makes sense that Vydra would be off as we wouldnt need 5 strikers on the books. More to the point, Vydra probably wants regular first team football, which he won't get here.

Re: Vydra link
As much as I like Vydra. There may be some logic in allowing Vydra to go and bring in this Swedish player. He'll want game time with the Euro's coming next season and Quaison can apparently play on the wing, up front or as an attacking midfielder. That would effectively solve a number of problems. Give us width on the right, or add to our midfield or up front. Wood and Jay Rod are our preferred front two. So makes some sense.

Re: Vydra link
Love Vydra and really do not want to see him leave. Think we play differently (better) with him in the team, although can understand why he’s not first choice. We should bring him on most games so he gets time and also play him in every cup if he’s staying.
Having said that, I can see a scenario where it might be best for all parties. If we could get a cheap, quick 4th striker (say Quaison), then use Vydra either as a straight sale to fund purchases, or a swap (Norwich are crying out for a striker and you could argue both teams would be more successful next year if we swapped Vydra & Buendia, Watford may do a deal with Deulofeu if Deeney is off, etc). In that case I could see how it might be a win:win for him and us.

Re: Vydra link
I can't believe i'm saying this, but if we WERE to lose one of our four main strikers, i'd rather it was Barnes.
Massive fan, really i am, but his game isn't enough for us now. The other three are technically better, and Vydra has real pace and a vision that Barnes just hasn't got in his locker.

Re: Vydra link
I think all 4 complement each other and all offer their benefits. Wood is more like Barnes, but you can't replace Barnes. He's an absolute pain in the backside. He's someone you want on your side if it comes down to war. He'll dig out fouls when it's needed and will do whatever it takes to win the game for us.bobinho wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 7:10 pmI can't believe i'm saying this, but if we WERE to lose one of our four main strikers, i'd rather it was Barnes.

This is why all 4 are perfect. We cover everything with the 4 players we have. We just don't need a forward player and need to spend our money on improving the rest of the side.

Re: Vydra link
Savings with Hart gone although he's been replaced
Savings with Hendrick gone given that Brownhill wasn't his replacement.
We were hardly over stretched in the first place, so it seems a bit of a stretch that Dawson for Gibson, and the new Swedish guy necessarily means that someone else has to go. That might apply at right back though.

Re: Vydra link
I’m happy with the four as they are, but if one were to go to make way for another, it’d be ash for me.
Agree about his game, he’s horrible and I love his attitude, but woody can put himself about a bit - not as sneaky as ash - but he’s big and strong and the other two are technically superior And they offer other dimensions and that means we can surprise teams with a different approach, which isn’t something we have usually had.
Happy for him to stay tho if that’s what we are doing.

Re: Vydra link
I agree. Barnes is massive. I can understand what bobinho meant, but all 4 are massive. Look at Vydra - the only player who would get the ball on the ground and cause mayhem for teams. Barnes... nightmare for defenders and draw in fouls.
