Eng Vs Aussies final one day game

Post by Quickenthetempo » Wed Sep 16, 2020 12:40 pm

England win the toss and bat first.

Wood comes back in for Sam Curran and the Aussies are unchanged.

Wow, that's pretty harsh on Curran. Surely the unluckiest of England cricketers at the current time.

Was worried Morgan was going to have a bowl. Steve Smith seems a curious case

FFS - England 0-2 off 2 balls.

Roy and Root both gone for golden ducks. No Joe 30 today.

Dreadful start. Now have to ensure we don’t lose anymore wickets as a priority.

Quite a recovery, for the first time this summer, Josh Hazlewood seems to have lost his line a bit.

You would think that these 2 need to stay in for at least another 15 overs to have the chance of posting a decent total

Warne's brilliant fun in the commentary box. Always 'on the money' as Nasser likes to say.

100 runs from 112 balls between these two - just what was needed - still 14 overs left. Looking like another intriguing clash brewing

Warne has been saying 300 needed as par score due to a short boundary.
Then the ball from Cummings which bowled Bairstow and moved several inches has now said 260 - 270 could be a good total.
Hope he is right at 252-6 now

The 10 overs between Marsh & Maxwell going for just 48 could be the difference.

Great score in the end.

They will need to chase down the highest ever chase total at Old Trafford to win.

We just seemed to plod along for long periods and I thought we left it too late to get 300. But big credit to the batters and that's without the main lads contributing.

A very decent score in the end, especially after that start.
A couple of early Oz wickets would help a lot but I'd say we are favourites now with it (hopefully) getting harder to bat on that pitch.
Well done to Johnny B and C Woakes especially but a good overall team comeback after 0-2.

I wasn't able to watch our innings today but it sounds like momentum has ebbed and flowed again. I have always enjoyed the game but the dramatic fluctuations between despair and elation this summer seem even more pronounced and prominent than ever. Even Yorkshire had a spell in the Roses T20 on Monday.

Reckon England are 50 short..... set against that though is the mental frailties weighing on the aussie middle order.

Not doubting that England are the best Dave. You don't need to see everything that is posted as a negative.

The Aussies cannot play spin but will still go for the big bucks when the ipl auction comes around which is surprising considering where the ipl is held

Need to split this Carey/Maxwell partnership it's becoming dangerous now. They've both had a life though, Carey off the no ball, and Maxwell edging behind and England not reviewing, hope we don't come to regret those missed chances.

135 needed off 18, a wicket or two and that will be tough, but if these two stick around for a few more overs, it'll start getting tense.
