It's something I suppose - the EFL must be going through hell losing their gate receipts.
Will help these clubs get their ops sorted and be ready to phase up the numbers when the time comes.

Not saying its not needed as the EFL clubs must be really struggling, however there is so much conflicting stuff from government, cant meet my family in my garden but can go to the toilet at half time with strangers at the footie.
No wonder a large % of people arent bothering with the rules anymore.

Re: 1,000 allowed attend ten Football League games
I know some fans will enjoy going back but I fail to see any benefits.
It will cost clubs to host these with more stewards needed etc
Maybe 15k in gate receipts? No kiosks open?
But it doesn't prove we can get back to full crowds and the government will pull the plug if cases rise in the area anyhow?

Kiosks were open at the test event at Brighton the other week. Bizarre!Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 2:21 pmI know some fans will enjoy going back but I fail to see any benefits.

The rumours I've heard aren't clever at all.
Going to be some real fun and games and lots of tantrums to come.

Seems a bit smacked arse from Luton, had they known this morning they could have staged a game after requesting to be one of the volunteers, but as they didn't find out until dinner time they can't now stage it

Exactly my thoughts. There will be no social distancing whatsoever outside the grounds.Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 2:20 pmNot saying its not needed as the EFL clubs must be really struggling, however there is so much conflicting stuff from government, cant meet my family in my garden but can go to the toilet at half time with strangers at the footie.

Re: 1,000 allowed attend ten Football League games
No chance, showed as much when the sky cameras were at the Brighton vs Chelsea friendly which was a test event.
Also the fans coming off the ground said there was little chance of social distancing in the concourse whilst getting food / going to the toilet.
Now you can keep the shops closed but you cant close the toilets.

If you're generating taxable revenue, you can do it. If not, you can't. Couldn't be much simpler.Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 2:20 pmNot saying its not needed as the EFL clubs must be really struggling, however there is so much conflicting stuff from government, cant meet my family in my garden but can go to the toilet at half time with strangers at the footie.

Re: 1,000 allowed attend ten Football League games
chap from Bristol Rovers (I think it was them) was stating on Sky Sports that it's not financially viable to run the stadium for such low numbers; opening the kiosks; security etc all costs money and its not worth it - apart from testing that they can do it.

Re: 1,000 allowed attend ten Football League games
Luton pulled out saying they have had insufficient time to prepare.
If entry to the ground hasn’t changed over the years then social distancing from local residents would have been a problem.
Was possible to enter houses on the way in at the away end lol

It's an investment though really. They might not earn anything from 1000 coming in, but they're helping to speed up the return of bigger crowds, where they'll earn more.

Still can’t understand why you wear a mask in a shop but not in a cafe, restaurant or plane when you are eating or when drinking in a pub with loads of strangers. It’s actually plain stupid. Either it’s safe or it’s not. I can sit in cramped pub with strangers but not sit with another household if numbers are above 6 but spread out in a large garden. Alternatively I can sit with 1,000 strangers watching Morecambe.
Re: 1,000 allowed attend ten Football League games
Statistically there's probably more chance of dieing on the way to the game than there is of dieing of covid. The whole thing is beyond a joke now.

So when all this crap is over are we going to do the same for Flu or other similar viruses?FactualFrank wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 3:04 pmTry telling that to people who have lost their loved ones.
If not, why not?
And tell that to any relatives of anyone that has died from Flu.

not a chance tickets will be allocated based on proximity to ground / health issuesFactualFrank wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 3:32 pmYou'd expect so. And as a poster put, people who live close to the ground, with no health issues.

Well for a kickoff, the flu has a vaccine. Now, you will say that doesn't matter, but I think it does.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 3:38 pmSo when all this crap is over are we going to do the same for Flu or other similar viruses?

But from your posts and replies it seems you don't believe Covid exists. That the people who died from it, just died from natural causes. That Covid-19 is a conspiracy.
When we get a vaccine, I don't think it will be serious. But a lot of people have died from Covid and despite what you think, it does exist. The chances of popping your clogs is lower now than it was in April but it could spike and we're back to square one.

Re: 1,000 allowed attend ten Football League games
Is that a serious question? For one, as if the club are going to start asking people about their health.
I suspect it will be done either on a ballot system, or by using the loyalty point system, or a combo of both.

I'm just wondering how they'll sort it... a lot of phone calls I expect. And it would be sensible to leave people out who are more at risk. People won't like it, but common sense prevails.
Re: 1,000 allowed attend ten Football League games
Less likely to pass on the virus by driving there in your own vehicle and parking close to ground than walking further amongst others even though you live nearer.

People dont need to shield anymore, so its up to them whether they want to risk going to the turf, its not up to the club.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 3:54 pmI'm just wondering how they'll sort it... a lot of phone calls I expect. Re: 1,000 allowed attend ten Football League games
Certain age groups are at a higher risk of infection. So its not about asking people about their health. Wouldnt be hard to rule them within that age bracket out.

There must be something to it. But we have gone way over the top with a virus that you have to be tested for to realise you have it.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 3:50 pmWell for a kickoff, the flu has a vaccine. Now, you will say that doesn't matter, but I think it does.

I don't see a full lockdown, but can see spikes continuing and areas of the country keep getting locked down. The absolute Leeds twohats are trying their best - can see a lockdown here soon.

Up to them, not BFCs job to play god.
And the virus has affected people with underlying health conditions, might be plenty of 70 & 80 year olds who don’t have any.
Ballot system and let people decide if they want the ticket is the fairest way.

I imagine in a ballot where fans all get a go at going you and your child would be grouped together. Do you think the club are going to work it so young children are asked to attend on their own ?

Re: 1,000 allowed attend ten Football League games
Might be ok if/when we get round to doing this at the Turf. Once you take out all the people who don't want to risk it, have made other plans, don't want to travel on trains/buses etc and can still attend without others in their 'group' - how many will actually be left?
To be honest, it could all change in a month or two, if that vaccine passes its last trial. In that situation I'd be cool with waiting until the new year or whenever and leaving it to those who are desperate to go now, even though I've a season ticket.
