Reckon we can go toe-to-toe with Sheffield United.

Good luck to Jimmy Dunne. I mean that sincerely. We're going to be needing him and to me it makes sense to give him a runout and rest Tarky for Leicester.

Re: Burnley v Sheffield United - Match Thread
No idea if this toe injury Is genuine but what I do know is that if we have to play the first few games of the PL season with a centre back pair of Long and Dunne, I suspect we'll get exactly what we deserve. Very few points.

Boden reckons it's a genuine injury.

It ain't genuine.matttheclaret wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 4:46 pmNo idea if this toe injury Is genuine but what I do know is that if we have to play the first few games of the PL season with a centre back pair of Long and Dunne, I suspect we'll get exactly what we deserve. Very few points.
Re: Burnley v Sheffield United - Match Thread
Why would we get what we deserve? If Mee and Tarks were both injured, then what would you suggest that we should/could do other than play Long and Dunne?matttheclaret wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 4:46 pmNo idea if this toe injury Is genuine but what I do know is that if we have to play the first few games of the PL season with a centre back pair of Long and Dunne, I suspect we'll get exactly what we deserve. Is it the one that went to market or the one that went wee wee wee all the way to West Ham

Looks like neither side is taking this seriously (As expected.) but I suppose one has to win.
C'mon you Clarets.
C'mon you Clarets.
Re: Burnley v Sheffield United - Match Thread
this has the makings of Dunne being an absolute diamond and the next one to be on the production line... after today... Dyche will drive Tarks to the Dildodrome in East Ham himself...

Re: Burnley v Sheffield United - Match Thread
We knew Mee wasn't going to be fit for the first few games, knew Gibson was off, know Long isn't good enough and know that Dunne is unproven.
To not have rectified that situation by bringing in at least one central defender prior to kicking off the season is just ridiculous

Being unproven is not a reason for signing a replacement. The only way to become proven is by playing.matttheclaret wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 4:57 pmWe knew Mee wasn't going to be fit for the first few games, knew Gibson was off, know Long isn't good enough and know that Dunne is unproven.

If you want to argue he isn't good enough, that's a different matter.
(And plenty of successive managers have, by awarding Long a new contract, deemed that he is good enough.)

Goodbye Tarks ?
Not in the team tonight
Re: Burnley v Sheffield United - Match Thread
If that’s the CB pairing on Sunday we could get turned over.

Re: Burnley v Sheffield United - Match Thread
So bring someone in just to cover our 2 main defenders and then that player just sits on the bench when they're fit? Do you know any players prepared to sign for us on that basis and at what cost?matttheclaret wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 4:57 pmWe knew Mee wasn't going to be fit for the first few games, knew Gibson was off, know Long isn't good enough and know that Dunne is unproven.

Problem is he’s as clueless as the rest of us. As has been proven time and time again

If he is still injured Sunday then that centre half pairing against Leicester is a frightening thought.

They wouldn't be covering though as things stand. They'd be starting
Re: Burnley v Sheffield United - Match Thread
If it was the CH pairing with 10 matches to go I might agree, but 1st match is always a lottery.

He only says what the club tell him, he doesn't have a clue nor does he have genuine inside info or contacts.

Re: Burnley v Sheffield United - Match Thread
It is a genuine injury and I am told he would probably have played had it been a league game. And given that Chris Boden is at the ground I would think he has more info and contacts than most of us right now.
