Re: JBG Injury

I've seen it a few times and the way decisions are made now I'm amazed it isn't a red. For it not even to be given as a foul by a linesman who is right on it is staggering. I suspect, in a Premier League game, the VAR official would at least have been telling Tierney to look at the monitor. I think then he'd have sent him off.

I've not read right up the thread but it is a twisted knee so he'll be out for some time I would imagine. So disappointing after last season but nothing you can do about injuries like that.

Hopefully it's just a twist and nothing more serious. Glad nothing we know of has snapped or broken. Hopefully it's good news when we know the full extent.

Gutted for JBG. He deserves some luck and we're a better player with him in the side.

Whether it was a red or not is essentially irrelevant. The fact is first game in and yet another injury. And yet another one for JBG. I just hope we don't have the usual idiots saying he's a liability. He didn't ask Robinson to take him out FGS.

Just praying it's not as bad as it looks because he could quite easily have broken his leg.

The kind of tackle you expect vs Lincoln or Accrington rather than another Premier League club.

Glad next ties behind closed doors, else the crowd there would be cheering for every one of our players to be taken out by them.

ACL damage i bet, out for 12 months, I like JBG, when he plays we look much more dangerous, but he has to be the unluckiest player ever

Shocking challenge. Did he get booked? If not surely should be some retrospective action.
Hear Hear !

Nasty challenge that could end a footballing career

While we all hope JBG’s injury isn’t too serious ,it does highlight out threadbare squad ,where a couple of injuries could be catastrophic . I’m staggered the board haven’t approved money for a quality RB ,even with our budget restrictions and uncertain times it seems almost bizzare .Though it must the takeover that’s scuppered this

If ever we needed the fans back in for a true backs to the wall Burnley “against the odds” season it’s now .

Nothing but best wishes for JBG, a brilliant player who adds much creativity when he plays.

I think though it would have been foolish to list him among players we could rely upon to play a full season and while we're better with him fit and in the squad it serves as a reminder how threadbare we currently are.

I was told by my surgeon that it’s preferable to break a leg than damage the soft tissue.

I was never sure I believed him!

It’s heartbreaking for the player but spare a thought for our back room staff as well who have spent hours on Gudmundsson’s recovery only to see it all undone in a moment of cynical butchery.

You would hope that this morning priority at Burnley would be the manager, medical guys and Rigg getting together, dropping everything else and be assessing (as accurately as possible) the length JBG will be out injured. Having lost Lennon and Hendrick(our main two previous right sided midfielders) you would hope we already had a list of potential suitors . Had Cork of course not been injured Brownhill could have slotted in.In contrast we have three players , left footed who can play on the other side.

Leicester have a very strong midfield with Maddison now back, partnering Tilemans and Praet, supported by Perez dropping deep and Barnes playing wide. They also have two full backs that like to push up.We may need to play Pieters who is showing to be very combative playing further up than full back. And this is our first Premier match......!!. Yesterday showed have vulnerable we are to injuries. Come on Mr Rigg let you and your team start justifying your positions. We have shown in the past 3 years that we can provide very ample goal keeping cover. Lets now prioritise right midfield, CH, and CM. The players are out there

That's exactly who that tackle reminded me of.

JBG and Charlie are my two favourite players and I’m so gutted that Johann has had such rotten luck. Maybe this time, medical damage is a stroke of luck. A Burnley side containing JBG, a player who gets us playing, is a stronger, more attractive and more dynamic Burnley side! Speedy recovery JBG!

In my playing days .. if Robinson hacked down one of our players like that. He would know whats coming.
His leg would get broken.
