A very professional performance against a rough house well organised team
Tackle like that in the League and they will have men sent off
Lets hope JBG is out for too long hes been performing well in pre season

Thanks for the match report Tony, as ever, most appreciated but particularly at this peculiar time.

I knew we were not doing well in cup games and particularly this one but hadn't realized just how long it had been since we last won, I enjoyed the game and seeing some new faces for me, nice to read some good news on here (except for JGB) though :)

Wouldn't it be eight years since we started a season in this competition, if it was because of the London Olympics?

2012?

We had that good run in 2013/14 and then only the Blackburn game since. That's always one worth remembering. I never tire of using this but it was the night that Mowbray said: "It's hard to take for the Rovers fans to see Burnley that far in front of us at the moment."

For all the doom and gloom enveloping this forum, last night's result means we've only lost 2 games in 17 now.

A hard fought victory, as I predicted, and the fact that we fought back from a goal down is encouraging for the challenges ahead, even if they fielded a shadow side, it still contained plenty of quality, and big money signings, and they still had to be beaten.

That penalty save will help Pope's confidence, after his England disappointment, and Benson & Dunne did their cause no harm, great for Vydra to bag, he needed that goal, hope it'll kickstart a run of form for him now.
