Re: Grenade Found
I saw I video of someone recently who casts a strong magnet into canals and pulls out all sorts. On this occasion he pulled out a WW2 grenade. Due to corrosion etc it wasn’t clear what it was. He proceeded to hit it a few times removing debris and it was pretty clear that it was a grenade. Also pulled out a tin that appeared to be full of cocaine. Presumably someone has done the same up Rosegrove today?
Re: Grenade Found
Already exploded, found by magnet fishers.

Re: Grenade Found
We were once on holiday when they closed the beach etc, local news were there, all because someone had found a torpedo. It turned out to be a gas cylinder.
Re: Grenade Found
It will be those Eastern Europeans, throwing them in to steal all the ducks and fish that we keep hearing about

Re: Grenade Found
I was meeting someone last Sept - they were on a boat on the Thames. I got to the riverside and couldn't get through - all cordoned off by the police. Same story, someone magnet fishing had fished out a grenade. Took a couple of hours to "make safe." Seems to happen often and may not even be worth a few words in the local paper.

Re: Grenade Found
My local market often has a military surplus stall. They have boxes and boxes of deactivated grenades for about a fiver each

Re: Grenade Found
You tend not to find grenades that have already exploded

Tankfully, I never tried to open one for a swig, when one was thrown to me.

Stick it under Mike Garlick's chair
Re: Grenade Found
Very fair point Although that’s what Burnley police reported, they did however retract their statement and claimed it was unexploded when found.
