Theo Walcott
With it looking more and more unlikely that we will permanently sign players the loan market is probably the only avenue we can use. Walcott hasn’t even made the 18 today and I think, especially after the JBG injury, that he would be a starter and could do a really good job for us. I understand his wages would be a stumbling block but I’m sure Everton would contribute as it’s looking unlikely that he is going to break back into their 1st 11.

Re: Theo Walcott
Hope it happens he would be a very good signing fingers crossed only downside it might be Christmas before he gets dyche fit utc
Re: Theo Walcott
I'd have him here on loan.
Re: Theo Walcott
Me too. If there is any truth in the takeover talk or even if it's just financial uncertainty that's causing the transfer inertia, then the loan market makes a lot of sense. Lots of options to structure deals that maintain the appearance of operating within the wage structure. Certainly makes more sense than those saying we may have no choice but to sign Osayi Bright-Samuel.

Re: Theo Walcott
It looks like we aren't going to do any business, so a loan move for Walcott wouldn't be a bad idea, especially with JBG being out for a while.

Rumoured to have been seen in Greggs this morning
Joking aside he’s a high quality player far in excess of anything we currently have including his salary !

Re: Theo Walcott
For anyone wondering how Walcott would perform in our team, see Aaron Lennon. He’s just a younger version with equal levels of no end product.

Re: Theo Walcott
Bloody hell how big for our boots have we got when we don’t think Walcott would be good enough for Burnley.
I’d have him here on loan in a heartbeat if he’s fit. Give your heads a wobble.

Re: Theo Walcott
Lennon has had a much better career than Walcott in my view. Outstanding for Spurs and I still believe he did better for us than so would give him credit for.
Last season they were discussing Walcott one week on Sunday Supplement. They said he started his career with people saying he was a young player with great potential and that they continue to talk about his potential that has never come to fruition.

Re: Theo Walcott
Made as many Appearances as JBG in the last three years, scored 4 more goals and 7 less assists than the ice man.
Is he that much better?
If he’s a forward he’s not scoring enough, if he’s a winger he’s not assisting enough.
Pass.

Dwight had better stats for last season and played more games.Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 3:31 pmBloody hell how big for our boots have we got when we don’t think Walcott would be good enough for Burnley.

It would all depend on which Walcott we signed.

Re: Theo Walcott
He’d still improve our squad. We’ve signed no one and the season starts tomorrow and people are saying they wouldn’t want him. Bants.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 3:37 pmDwight had better stats for last season and played more games.

He wouldn't replace McNeil but would still strengthen us.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 3:37 pmDwight had better stats for last season and played more games.

He'd be better than nothing.... nothing looking like what we're otherwise going to end up with. when it comes to more bodies in.

Also think he would be better than nothing and I feel he could be the type of player Dyche could get the best out of.

Re: Theo Walcott
Walcott started his career with similarities to Thiery Henry in that he could have transitioned into a centre forward, but like mentioned it just never seem to happen for him.

Right now we need someone who would strengthen our squad and potentially start for us.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 4:31 pmI haven't suggested he'd replace McNeil, but if we are looking for a right winger then we need someone who brings something similar to McNeil.

Re: Theo Walcott
Given the ‘better than nothing’ attitude towards taking him on, Sid, I wouldn’t waste your time.
Putting Steve Stone on the bench would be better than an empty seat too, with the added benefit he had a handful of good England games as well. Should we do it though..? No.

Re: Theo Walcott
I would rather we signed the young lad Gordon on loan from them.
A real prospect with lots to prove.
The type of player we need

You could probably pluck 10 out of league one, for the wages Walcott would wantVegas Claret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 4:44 pmwould be a waste of a wage, i'd rather pluck 3 out of League one who have potential

Re: Theo Walcott
The only comparison is they both played for England and quite clearly I was be facetious.
I’ve already given a comparison with JBG, which Walcott falls short on. I can’t see Walcott coming to sit on our bench and personally I’d rather not repeat the Hart situation.
Whilst not you, the advocation of signing a player because he’d be ‘better than nothing’ is bizarre to me.

No nay never
Kick and rush but nowadays not much rush
Ewobi is a much better bet if we are looking at Everton rejects

Re: Theo Walcott
I can see why people wouldn't want him here. He would be costly and a risk. I think he'd strengthen us so think it was a reasonable suggestion by the OP. As you say I don't think it would be just a case of better than nothing.Darthlaw wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 4:54 pmThe only comparison is they both played for England and quite clearly I was be facetious.

Re: Theo Walcott
It's impossible to say what impact he would bring, it'd be worth a consideration on a structured pay & play style arrangement to get some bang for the buck obviously it'd be doubtful all parties would agree for it to be feasible, I'd prefer a jesse lingard on loan I think he'll struggle to start when fit for man u.
