Really tough game, and he did excellently. No more loans for you Mr Dunne.

this should be the end of any thoughts of Worral from Forest, we can use that money elsewhere - Dunne is clearly good enough to be in the squad, I think for a debut against a team that will push the top 4 he has been outstanding

Don't think he was any more to blame for the goals than any other defenders and he got a goal to boot.

We did just concede four goals.

He was ok but we weren't strong defensively.

come on, just give the lad a bit of praise. It's not his fault we lost.

And it's not the chairman's either.

To be honest lads, he was floundering in parts. He got drawn in and took Taylor out for the first, without which Taylor may have dealt with Vardy - instead he had five yards to pick a pass. For the third he was AWOL (as was Long), leaving Bardsley to deal with three at the far post. We’d have taken a point with Mee and Tarks at the back today.

Delighted for him that he got a goal and he looked a threat at set pieces. May also be equally as good as Dawson and in a way I’d rather we develop one of our own, so no complaints.

Hard to agree with that mate for reasons just posted.

If Tarks’ is a genuine injury, I agree with your Chairman comment, but I very much doubt it to be honest. In which case, he needs to take his share of the blame for the situation we find ourselves in.

First goal players regularly go to close down in pairs - this often happens with Men and Taylor - no difference
Third goal - it's the midfield line that is poor (as it was for the 4th, and the 2nd) - it's pulled behind where the defenders are, who are still in a line defending the space. Midfield were good in patches, but the famed Low Block wasn't as compact as it normally is. That may be because there weren't as many instructions from the centre halves, but I think you're harsh attributing those 2 goals down to individual errors by Dunne. (also, if he was covering the left centre half position for the first, and the right centre half position for the 3rd, it would suggest somebody else was out of position for him to have to go and cover in one of them)

Considering his debut was against Vardy I thought he did extremely well.
Our defence got very little help from midfield.
Yes we conceded four, but weren't too far off scoring four ourselves, and Dunne was determined enough to score one.

Can't we do both, if JT ends up going dunne won't be playing every game anyway there will be plenty of opportunities for both & it promotes competition.

Wasn’t attributing both goals to him as such. That would be harsh. First he bundled Taylor over in a bit of a panic. Had he stood back, Taylor may have dealt with the threat. Second he was out of position, as were others. He basically followed the ball, which I doubt Tarks or Mee would’ve done, which what makes them so good.

Not complaining. He’s one of ours and hope he comes good. Was certainly not a howler and I am comparing him to the best CB partnership in the PL (in my opinion) - it’s a high bar.

As for Dunne, our defence was quite shocking tonight. How much of that was down to Dunne I don't know, but I wasn't overly impressed. He did look a decent threat from set pieces though, as his goal proved. We'll see how he goes next week but we undoubtedly need a centre half.

He's been in our development squad for about 4 years, if he's not good enough whose fault is it?

Thought he was ok. If we get to the desirable position of Dunne being 5th choice, you'd hope two promising starts for the first team would go some way in boosting the calibre of club we could loan him to.

Didn’t say he was coming here, ya plank!

They’ve bought a CB from Aberdeen, makes you think Worrall might be going somewhere.

Two of their goals (1st and 3rd, I think) were preventable but
wouldn't wish to put the blame on any one player nor were they as a result
of any one player.
But given it was his debut you have to say he was fine and did get our second.
On that performance he's established himself as a contender alongside Long
so we may not need another centre half.
If Tarks stays, that is.

Thought he did very well considering the calibre of opposition strikers he was up against on his debut

If I understood SD's post-match correctly he said we said we didn't defend goals 1 and 3 properly from wide areas and allowed their players into the space in front of the central defenders - nothing I saw in real time suggested Dunne made any individual errors which led to goals

Whilst we need to get back to Mee and Tarkowski (or his replacement) as soon as possible having seen tonight's game feel more comfortable about Dunne being able to perform as a cover player at this level
