That was probably me. I had to restart the server a couple of times to get the parameter changes to work. Shouldn't happen again.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 8:33 amIt has been happening again this morning about 8 am - appreciating all your efforts on this

Re: Server unreliability
Would it be a coincidence it happened when I was just searching?
Dibradio, perhaps try doing some advance searches and see if it provokes the crashes?

Re: Server unreliability
I have done a couple of searches in the last hour with no issues - within a thread and not advanced, though the MMT is a very big thread now, I did not have any problems and no one else has reported any either

Re: Server unreliability
Searches are notoriously demanding on forums, that is why many have restrictions in place so you can only make so many within a set period of time.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 1:36 amI have done a couple of searches in the last hour with no issues - within a thread and not advanced, though the MMT is a very big thread now, I did not have any problems and no one else has reported any either
I thought perhaps it could be contributing to overloading the system, not just from one person searching, but perhaps a few at a time. Who knows, maybe your searching happened at a similar time to mine. Or perhaps my searching coincided with someone else and yours didn't.
Apart from the massive threads, this forum also has many threads with the same topic titles. There's probably 10 different topics with the same player name as the title because people don't search and use existing threads. May be this isn't healthy for the performance either.
As for your grand thread (and the adeola thread) may be best to keep a limit on the total number of pages and start to split threads when they get so long.

Re: Server unreliability
I have trouble accessing the site everyday at certain times. Then I realised that its fine if I used a UK proxy browser.
So I assume that is some kind of security setting to prevent issues with foreign bots.

Re: Server unreliability
Possibly I've had problems assessing the site in the past few minutes, but the forum doesn't look that busy with users, there is nearly 200 guests though.

Re: Server unreliability
The fact it also happens during the early hours suggests it's not a load / bandwidth issue. I suspect, that the host is cheap and poor - can't complain as somebody is paying for it and I doubt the advertising covers it.
I've got 20+ sites at 34sp.com and they aren't just good, their support is brilliant. If the person running the board reads this, check them out. For me, support/help is just as important as the tech.

He is. He's now posting under PeterWilton. But I know a lot more about hosting than him. You talk a good game and obviously know a bit about this kind of thing but youre not in the same league as IT. Not sure about your Peter Wilton claim but if IT was about im sure we'd have this problem cracked by nowFactualFrank wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 6:50 pmHe is. He's now posting under PeterWilton. Re: Server unreliability
Is it good news that no one has added to this thread since last Wednesday?
I had a lengthy conversation with DiBraidio last week and he had found something suspicious.
Hope I'm not tempting fate but if anyone sees any problems can they please post them on this thread.
Thanks,
Tony
