Just read them. Surprising. Can't say I watched much of his overall game when he was with them, just saw he scored a few goals, so thought they would be more complimentary.
Contradicting what Liverpool fans think of him on the Liverpool Echo.
'This guy is a very good player'
'Not (Liverpool) giving him a fair crack of the whip'

Well Dyche has said we have to sell first in order to bring players in hasn’t he?
Nope.

I don't think he has.
I thought I’d read it somewhere but I stand corrected if he hasn’t.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche admits they're battling to land their transfer targets ….Dyche said "Ours has often been lastminute.com; SELL FIRST, BUY SECOND, that kind of thinking. That's the way the club is. When you know what you have to manage you manage it the best you can."
Those comments from Sean Dyche were made 4/5 days ago and were widely reported in the national media.

I didn't see a huge amount of him but read quite a few reports that suggested he didn't contribute enough beyond goals (quite a few from free kicks I think).
Wouldn't be disappointed if we got him though. He may or may not turn out to be good but it's the kind of signing we need to look at. (Although I wouldn't have been disappointed if we'd signed Ibe this week so maybe I'm just getting desperate.)

But that doesn’t equate to him saying we definitely have to sell before we can buy right now.

That wasn't a serious response. He was having a larf at our transfer policy. When was the last time we had to sell to buy? It's been a while.

Having a larf or otherwise that was what Sean Dyche said at a Press Conference that was being disputed by some.
Sean used it as humour, maybe, but knowing that there was sense of reality in those remarks as well.

Well Dyche shouldn’t be so flippant when talking to the Daily Mail then. A lot of people are taken in by their headlines.

Not researched this but it does seem to me that ex Liverpool players don’t tend to set the world on fire. Maybe that’s because they keep the good uns. Having said that he will be a huge improvement on nowt

He said “often” have to sell to buy.
Not always and in reality it’s not actually been the case has it under his tenure.
Which of his incoming transfers did we have to sell players to fund ?
The little digs he is making at every press conference are getting a bit tiresome now to be honest. I’m convinced he does it to get supporters and media on his side.
He’s the best manager we have had in my lifetime but let’s not forget that Burnley have also given him by far the best period of his playing and managerial career.

Nixon’s comments suggest we certainly aren’t anything like ‘closing in’.

Obviously the timelines are not exactly sell/buy, but it could be argued that any of Ings, Trippier, Keane, Gray, etc helped to pay for subsequent signings. We can’t throw money at those types of players in order to keep them at Burnley so those deals are more crucial to our club in order to keep us going. Obviously I too am hoping we don’t need to sell Tarkowski.

Wilson might be a good dead ball specialist, but that apart I can't say i've been overly impressed. How many Liverpool players in the modern era leave Anfield and are a success? I can't think of many.

Like I say I hope we aren't jumping the gun here and it's far from close. There's bound to be other club(s) that are interested and compete us for him.

I'd hope if it is to be a decent fee, a sizeable proportion would be in the form of add-ons based on games, goals, caps, PL status, sell on % / Buy back clauses etc.

Suarez

Mascherano
Probably more but I know what you mean.
The best exponent at this was of course Sir Alex. He got rid of so many players for decent money knowing they were never going to be good enough for United but cos he’d played them a couple of times in a Carling Cup game he had the ability to cast a mythical spell over the negotiations and get clubs like Everton to pay a million pounds for John O Kane etc etc !!

Assume you mean youngsters and not the likes of Suarez and Coutinho.
Raheem Sterling, Conor Coady?

A young lad called Harry Wilson has done well during 3 loan spells and at international level.

That’s standard practice you don’t even need to make an enquiry, it’s common knowledge the positions we need to strengthen any player within reason it’s believable & enough to spark rival interest.

If this is the same Harry Wilson who was on loan at Hull City a couple of seasons ago then he was highly rated as a player. Also represented that Club well in public forums . A very decent bloke by all accounts.
