Re: Harry Wilson
About a week ago some posters were suggesting the deal was all but done and couldn’t understand my reluctance in getting an article written. I don’t know whether it will happen at all but I think it is probably significant that he’s playing tonight.

A few Liverpool fans seem to think it's so we up our bid. Although it's probably also in the hope he has an absolute belter and gets other teams interested too. Gut feeling though is that that's the end of it and we'll need to turn our attention to somebody else.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 6:54 pmAbout a week ago some posters were suggesting the deal was all but done and couldn’t understand my reluctance in getting an article written. Sounds like it’s done. We obviously aren’t budging on 12 plus 4 and obviously no others are close hence him playing tonight.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 6:54 pmAbout a week ago some posters were suggesting the deal was all but done and couldn’t understand my reluctance in getting an article written. I know we don’t fritter money away, and we sensibly only pay what we think players are worth, but it’s critical we sign a winger, it’s the one place we are short.
Re: Harry Wilson
It's quite unbelievable that anybody considered this was a signing that could happen. I mean come on, we're talking about a deal in the region of £15 million. Just what is it about our recent transfer dealings that led people to believe this was a goer? Craziness or wishful thinking? Probably a combination of the two.

All it takes is 1 other Premier League club to want him and it'll rule us out.
Their reporter seems to have made an assessment of him that is similar to mine.

Re: Harry Wilson
Looks like this has gone cold. For me Josh King @ £10m is good value. He is quick, tough and a real handful. I can remember SD openly saying you cannot have enough strikers in your club. It would push Vydra down to 5th striker, but gives us serious striker cover in the event of injuries-when did we last have this ? . For me Vydra has had a very long run of games (since Ashley got injured). Sorry guys but he is not a game changer, and needs lots of opportunities to score. The goals he has scored have been mainly in the Cups. Now that Tarks is back and Mee to become available soon, it means we can start controlling games better. If we can keep clean sheets then with Wood, Barnes, Jay and Josh King you have got 4 game changers. Just one goal gets us the three points.
With Stephens and Westwood in midfield we have Josh & JBG shortly who can play on the right. No team would want to face any two of these four names

Liverpool have probably a set price in mind and can’t be arsed messing around with us. We expect to be paid £40 million plus for Tarkowski and won’t budge but we expect selling clubs to accept our below market valuations.

I agree that RM is priority. CB isn't too far behind though.
Every man and his dog connected to Burnley must know these are the positions that need sorting. For JBG it's always a case of when, not if, he'll be injured.

I’m with LTL on this Wilson is a good player but very much a luxury player who we’d need to change formation for most likely.
Granted, crosses don't always lead to goals, but he did notch up 12 assists, created 16 big chances and made 1.5 key passes per game. His long passing stat is a little troubling, but he has a lot of qualities that we could make use of and develop. I like the fact that he is two footed and effective on both wings.

I've seen enough this season to believe that we really have to cover an injury or suspension at CB with better than we already have.
I feel a bit sorry for Jimmy Dunne, TBH, because he hasn't had the chance to play with either of our best CBs, he may be better than we have seen so far.

Re: Harry Wilson
We need both a first reserve cb (hopefully the next Tarks) and a right winger to ensure we stay up. Anything else is too risky. I'll take loan for the winger, if I have to, but the cb needs to be ours.

Re: Harry Wilson
Tarky going or staying will have had a huge bearing on incoming players regards fees and numbers.
But as Mile says, we aim to come out of windows stronger than we go into them, so should be a triple unveiling soon.

Shaqiri's omission from Liverpool's squad tonight is down to transfer interest from at least two clubs.

Possible that him playing tonight is to try and push for as much money as possible? I can’t see him being on the bench for Liverpool this season. Although if he is to stay with them and we were in for him at the price quoted then I’d like us to go for Buendia instead

He’s definitely playing the left of a midfield three.
Jota is playing on the wing.
Strange to play him out of position if trying to put him in the shop window

I think Harry Wilson will go out on loan or be sold. I don't see him having a future at Liverpool. He's not quite at that level.

He was free to play tonight even if we were in serious negotiation for him. He gets some 'minutes in his legs' and doesn't become cup-tied either as we no longer have any interest in this year's competition.

when they're on it they look like world-beaters (a bit), when they are off they are shocking.
We don't know how lucky we are to have one really fine winger, two might be seen as excessive
