FA Cup win and Kieron Trippier to sign!
Sadly, can’t see Trippier re-signing while he’s top of La Liga, playing in one of the best stadia in the world.

Would love to see him back though.

Will this thread reach 100 pages before the takeover is completed? Are we going for a sweepstake on what page the thread will be at when it's confirmed? I'm going for 105.

I might go for page 78. Then I’d lock the thread and reopen when the deal goes through. :D

I think everyone will be pleased come the end of January and beyond with events. The wheels have been in motion for a long time and you'll see some interesting and pleasing developments come mid January. Some of which will put a big smile on Clarets faces. Possibly even surprise a lot of you.
I think what Ben means is that Alan Pace had used his football formula and unbelievably found that Vydra is a better option than Barnes when trying to keep the ball on the deck.

Referencing back to the Telegraph report - it says that ALK are in the running to buy Mike Garlick's and John B's shares. Is that the first time that we've seen those details rather than "buy the club" or similar? Earlier this month (or was it last month?) there was debate about divisions amongst the directors and suggestions that some directors were backing "the other offer (I think if recalled that accurately, happy to be corrected if I've got this wrong). Is it possible that discussions with ALK over the past few weeks have been evolving the proposed deal such that the latest version of the deal is ALK buying MG's and JB's shares, while all the other directors/shareholders retain their existing shares? If the existence of divisions were accurate how will it be resolved if ALK are 75%+ shareholders alongside others who didn't want them there?

I’ve no idea but I would assume they would buy from the two major shareholders.

I’d expect the ‘drag and tag’ rules to be in play which means minority shareholders have to do what the majority shareholder agree, i.e. all shares will be sold. That doesn’t prevent a new type of share being established in the new business that some of the old shareholders get a few of as part of the agreed deal.

It could be likened to Proust's 'In Search of Lost Time'. I tried to read this once. The book is six volumes.

At one point, a whole chapter is spent on describing the anticipation of meeting a girl, all the possible happenings and outcomes. What the reader then wants is a description of what happened. We don't get it. In effect we get just 'I met the girl'!

Think the northern powerhouse ideal was over egged. Yes. ALK have an interest in contributing to the local and wider economy but not some mind blowing, seismic shift as DJW was suggesting. Although I get the point he was trying to make.

Absolutely rubbish. He 100% had more info on what was happening than anybody else on here and people didn’t like that.

I feel he knew more about the American deal than the Egyptian deal. People were very unfair to him

DJW'S posts were very interesting i thought. What did become frustrating is the lack of direct information and a lot of posts were left to the imagination but to be fair to him it wasn't just him that was doing it and it did appear that he did know about the deal a long time before it broke. I do think people were unfair to him however i do understand the frustrations of posters.

I’d imagine that the lack of direct information was as a result of not wanting to be so specific that he made his source identifiable and thereby get them in major trouble...and also lose his access to little snippets in future.

DJW obviously had a bit of inside information, but it did get a bit silly towards the end.

He liked the attention and he ended up a little out of his depth, but I think the best intention was there.

I completely understand that which is why i thought the critism was a bit unfair. I do understand how some posts could leave posters very confused and frustrated though but i suspect any criticism was an aggressive attempt to prize more info out of him ut could be wrong.

He did mention an Egyptian bid before that came out in the press. When it was ALK that was revealed he may have been accused of getting his info wrong. Stated there was two bids also.

He was certainly the first to break the news it was happening and was denied by a lot of posters on here, who thought they would know if anything was.
Then the thread got deleted.

DJW obviously had a bit of inside information, but it did get a bit silly towards the end.

He liked the attention and he ended up a little out of his depth, but I think the best intention was there.
He certainly did like the attention it brought him on the takeover thread and was never forthcoming when people wanted "a bit more meat on the bone".

He liked to tease and regularly answered questions with other questions.

When pressed he said he wouldn't comment on here again but couldn't resist and was soon back with a few more teasers which he was questioned about. Again he said he wouldn't post on the takeover again.

Did he expect to post "confidential information" on this message board without getting a grilling?

His transfer info proved to be less than accurate which didn't do his case any good at all.

The thing with transfer info is it can change. The thing you post at that particular time could well be correct.

For instance, the year before Jay Rod signed for us. He was signing then. Every one I bumped into had a reason why or different source that he was coming. He became a member of Townely golf club. People who were sponsors of the club had been told from club insiders. Put he didn't come in the end.

If you break news early before it's sealed then there's a good chance it could go wrong.
If you don't like this it's probably best to wait for club announcements.

Or maybe people shouldn't quote things as facts or done deals when they aren't and then they wouldn't be called out for stating something as a fact when it isn't / wasn't?

Come on Tony, who was the player where it was rumoured they had signed, you said you had been waiting for the news to break, then it turned out to be rubbish

I can't remember exactly what it was but there was something I knew, or thought I knew, and had been expecting it to be announced. I don't know whether it was a signing or a new contract or what it was but it wasn't rubbish, it did actually happen and when it did I just posted that I had been expecting the news to break. That's all it was. It's years ago now but occasionally I see some pathetic, childish comment on it.

In terms of this situation, I could have posted some things months and months ago but without anything to back up my claims I chose not to.
