Re: ALK Capital...
My son is assistant first team physio , I never ask him about the players’ injuries not that he would tell me as such information is private and subject to medical confidentiality like anyone else’s medical history. All I can say is I know that on a couple of occasions when certain players were reputed to be elsewhere they were at OUR training ground doing whatever they do .The internet is a wonderful thing sometimes but you’ve got to take a lot of football gossip with a large pinch of salt

How accurate did that turn out to be?

Thanks for the info. I wasn't fishing for players' medical info but its good to know that the Tarky at Leicester was a myth.rdp2eps wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 7:39 pmMy son is assistant first team physio , I never ask him about the players’ injuries not that he would tell me as such information is private and subject to medical confidentiality like anyone else’s medical history. Phil .. and he bleeds Claret and Blue like the rest of us
Re: ALK Capital...
Well to be fair they don’t watch them 24 hours a day but I find it extremely unlikely ... The Leicester press don’t miss much either , if one of our players had gone down there I’d be amazed if it hadn’t got out from the other end ? Plus as I say almost any kind of business is conducted well away from the clubs themselves and training grounds these days until the deal has actually been signed.
No Its okay I didn’t assume you were fishing .. my lad is at training every day so he will see any given player just going about his normal routine rather than in the treatment room

Now that was a comical thread alright ... I do believe the photos dated back to an international break before lockdown

On that very thread, Columbo showed photos from I think back in April, when they were both wearing the same clothes. So it kinda dismissed any rumours.

Problem is people posting nonsense such as the Tarky at Leicester. Then others actually believe it but others call it out because it is nonsense.mybloodisclaret wrote: ↑Thu Oct 22, 2020 10:36 pmPeople won't post because they get called out when they do.

All I know is that it is not dead and that there is probably more chance of it happening than not. Also been told not to believe a lot of the stuff posted on here.
If it happens, I don’t know when at all.

ALK were, according to some I speak to, the more likely but some of the things I’ve been told have left a positive impression. The proof will be in the pudding though should it happen.

Thanks. Thing that worries me is whether ALK really have the financial clout to move us forward. I’d rather no change to ownership structure ordinarily, but since the incumbents seem no longer able/willing to invest in the team, I have to accept it - just want it to be someone filthy rich if we’re going down that path.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 8:09 pmALK were, according to some I speak to, the more likely but some of the things I’ve been told have left a positive impression. Notwithstanding your point about this thread not being an accurate source of information, it said nearer the beginning that it would be a “SPAC” of “moderately wealthy” individuals. So presumably just a larger group of what we’ve already got. Not sure that moves us forward?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 9:06 pmALK won’t have any financial clout. Personally not convinced it will be a SPAC, given everything I have learnt about them and shared on the MMT thread of late, Private Equity is most likely route for a takeover of our club

Re: ALK Capital...
The first thing to understand about a Special Purpose Acquisition Corporation (SPAC) is that funds are raised by listing equity on a stock exchange with the funds raised for the described purpose, but, usually before the specific target investments have been identified. Investors in the shares "buy into" the investment story - with a given time frame for the investment(s) to take place or their initial investment repaid, if the investments aren't completed. The "moderately wealthy" investors may include both individuals and institutions where their investment in the SPAC will be a (very) small part of their total investment portfolio. I'd expect the SPAC to have a number of "foundation" investors who will be committed to back the initial public offering (IPO), and thus ensure the success of the IPO.NewClaret wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 9:36 pmNotwithstanding your point about this thread not being an accurate source of information, it said nearer the beginning that it would be a “SPAC” of “moderately wealthy” individuals. So far, my description of a SPAC will fit any SPAC, with an investment story specific to each SPAC - it may be a plan to invest in "green" environmental projects or "covid-19" vaccines or any other investment opportunity.
It is possible that ALK Capital intends to fund their purchase of Burnley FC via a SPAC - subject to successful agreement to acquire the club. Their investment story will include the opportunity to participate in the rising value of the Premier League, by owning one of the Premier League clubs - allowing for all the risk factors, including relegation. If ALK Capital is to succeed it will need to raise a lot of equity, not just enough to buy the club but also to investment in the club and maintain Burnley FC in the Premier League. Of course, the strategy will include the opportunity of raising additional funds including selling further shares.
Alan Pace, and others developing the idea, will be rewarded by participation in the gains, if they can deliver the successful investments.
All this is speculation and guesswork on my part. I'm retired, I have no access to any information expect for the (very little) that has been put in the public domain. I might be wrong. Pace and ALK may fail to reach agreement with Mike Garlick and John B.
It will be exciting if it comes off.
UTC
EDIT: And, I've just seen Chester Perry's post. Although I favour a SPAC over PE, I might be wrong - or it could be that one or more PE entities are amongst the foundation investors, with the aim of exiting via an IPO and not requiring a SPAC.

And so starts another few pages of discussing the risks and benefits of a SPAC or a PE when nobody has any idea what the proposed investment is.

It wasn’t worthy to end our friendship, but I have rightly ripped him to death.
There’s a hundred unwritten transfer stories that have something in them and never come to fruition
Re: ALK Capital...
Call me old fashioned but rumours and anything that isn’t fact are things I discuss.
If I am going to write it down on paper , Twitter, messageboards , 2FB, then it must be the truth and the whole truth
I also feel sorry for these folk who get off by ripping into people for no reason

Re: ALK Capital...
There's so much mis-information coming out, allegedly directors agreeing deal on shipping out 2 players, Dyche threatening to walk if the 2 go, a well known journalist still suggesting we are in for Wilson but a long way off on the money, alleged offers going in for relatively unknown foreign players, Takeover near to a conclusion, no it isn't...now its out in the open there are new kids on the block. Im bloody sick of the lot it, and really loosing interest big style.

I don’t know where it is now. It’s definitely not dead in the water but is not progressing as was expected. Why? I’ve no idea on that.
I do know what some of their plans are should they get control or I know what I’ve been told.
