A company called Calder Vale Holdings Limited has just been registered on Companies House, Alan Pace among the directors. Suspect the deal is quite close to completing.

https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/12919689
Alan Pace is also amongst the directors of ALK Capital Limited, incorporated on 15 September 2020.

Claretgilly - Would you have any idea how long companies would normally be registered, before any takeover occurs please?
Setting up a company is very cheap and very straightforward so although it may indicate things are moving it's also easy enough to do just in case.

Burnley RFUC used to be known as Calder Vale RUFC and Burnley FC started out as a rugby club known as Burnley Rovers!!!. The football club started playing at Calder Vale until moving too Turf Moor.
I know it's a different sport but that's the only connection I could think of.

It seems to me that the investment of the minority shareholders isn't worth the paper that it's written on.
There are still things you can do with minority shareholdings but ultimately if someone has a majority then the influence for the other shareholders is limited (unless there is some further private shareholders agreement). Those shares do still have a value though and there are various reasons for wanting more than a simple majority.

Isn't Calder Vale the original location of Burnley FC's ground before Turf Moor?

Somewhere near where the college is now?
Yes, the mill which stood exactly where The Range is now was Calder Vale Mill, but the original Calder Vale ground which BFC initially inhabited was close by on the other side of the railway viaduct, on ground to the rear of the present college.
I only know this because Royboy showed me some photos of him standing on the terrace there in his short trousers! :D

If a UK company has only just been registered and this is going to be the acquisition company ( it may not be) I think this deal could be a way off yet. The Hunter Bright Group look for growth projects with future cash flow potential according to some information I read. I think this will be anything other than a benefactor and very much about the returns made.

Don't get "hung up" on the timing of creating a company. It could very well be one of the small final details. The big issues are agreement between seller and buyer - and the ability of the buyer to raise the finance they require to complete the transaction and start to execute their plans.

Formation of Calder Vale (or any other company) is not confirmation that a deal will go ahead.

Yes, I know, but it's not the sort of name that I would expect a modern progressive company would be expected to use.

Also, don't get hung up on the name, it could be anything - and can be changed as quickly and frequently as the directors wish.

There are company formation agents who set up companies "for fun." They may use names such as "Company number 1," Company number 2" etc etc. An acquisition could be completed by an "off the shelf" company that was formed a number of years ago - so, long as it's never been used before.

Hi Boss, you know that's not correct. Europeans may have found out how to get to Americas in 1492. However, there were already a lot of people living there. I don't think any of them were saying "I can't wait to be discovered."

I get your point. America has a long history - even though many there like a lot of more recent stuff.

With interest rates at unprecedented low levels, I would be interested to see a business case about a new stadium, adjoined to a hotel and entertainment venue etc. Over a 10-20 year view it is not guaranteed that this would fail to make money. Maybe a daft idea, maybe not, but it would seem unlikely that they are gambling on making money due to the unlikely event of us staying in the PL for a decade. There must be another angle.

Who knows, maybe this will be their plan, perhaps actually in the Calder Valley

It’s highly likely the office of a law firm will be the registered office for multiple businesses all belonging to people who have no connection to each other in any way.

Edit - just checked and there are nearly 40,000 businesses linked to that post code!

Because there are TWO River Calders, each with a valley, which flow downhill in opposite directions from a point only a few dozen feet apart in the Cliviger Gorge. One to the North Sea via Hebden Bridge and Halifax and one to the Irish Sea via Burnley, Padiham and the River Ribble.
