Anyone else seen this?

A surprisingly good period drama!

Yes, just finished the second series tonight. May be a while before we see the third?

I thought they were showing all three series', but I may be wrong.

It'll be a shame if they're not. Amazing to think that the first series was out back in 2017, but didn't have a UK distributor so wasn't shown on telly... so I read anyway.

;)

Thanks BC.

Out of interest, who's your favourite character?

I'm very fond of Charlotte, Lucy, and Lady Isabella... but I've no idea why, obviously! :D

Hello! Hello! How come I've been cut out of the loop? Charlotte, Emily and Pa - make of that what you will. No time for Lucy.

Wasn't purposely ignoring you duffer :D

I think Lucy is rather cute, but each to their own! ;)

Special mention to Samantha Morton, who shows what an excellent actress she is. I love that tremendous belly laugh! :D

Samantha Morton is great in it. I remember watching her in Band of Gold all those years ago, ironically playing a prostitute. I wasn't over fond of Lucy as a character and thought Eloise Smyth who played her was a relative weak link.

The dialogue was sharp and it was refreshingly different overall.

Yes, a bit of artistic licence with the dialogue, as I'm sure the 'F' word wasn't used in Georgian times, but it's certainly a gritty 'in your face' script.

Did people ever say "cunny"?

Isn't the F-word anglo saxon 🤔

The F-word
The f-word is of Germanic origin, related to Dutch, German, and Swedish words for “to strike” and “to move back and forth.” It first appears, though, only in the 16th century, in a manuscript of the Latin orator Cicero.

Cunny
Its first appearance in the Oxford English Dictionary was in 1972, which cites the word as having been in use from 1230 in what was supposedly a London street name of "Gropecunte Lane".

It is a bit formulaic... in a far less, sub par Peaky Blinders way.
A sort of predictable time waste.

It should have been called "Peaky Boobies"

Demonstrates what a wonderful actress Lesley Manville is. Seen her many times in drama and comedy on TV but she has regularly been on radio 4 iin a variety of roles.

Just watched the first episode of the third series. A quick start, some tongue lashings from Emily and, yes, I'm back on it. Still don't understand the apparent allure of Lucy.
