Re: Harlots - BBC2
I thought they were showing all three series', but I may be wrong.
It'll be a shame if they're not. Amazing to think that the first series was out back in 2017, but didn't have a UK distributor so wasn't shown on telly... so I read anyway.

To be shown at a later date according to this...fidelcastro wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 10:34 pmI thought they were showing all three series', but I may be wrong.

Out of interest, who's your favourite character?
I'm very fond of Charlotte, Lucy, and Lady Isabella... but I've no idea why, obviously!
Re: Harlots - BBC2
Hello! Hello! How come I've been cut out of the loop? Charlotte, Emily and Pa - make of that what you will. No time for Lucy.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 10:47 pmThanks BC.

Wasn't purposely ignoring you duffer
I think Lucy is rather cute, but each to their own!
Special mention to Samantha Morton, who shows what an excellent actress she is. I love that tremendous belly laugh!
Re: Harlots - BBC2
Samantha Morton is great in it. I remember watching her in Band of Gold all those years ago, ironically playing a prostitute. I wasn't over fond of Lucy as a character and thought Eloise Smyth who played her was a relative weak link.
The dialogue was sharp and it was refreshingly different overall.

Yes, a bit of artistic licence with the dialogue, as I'm sure the 'F' word wasn't used in Georgian times, but it's certainly a gritty 'in your face' script.Duffer_ wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 11:00 pmSamantha Morton is great in it. Isn't the F-word anglo saxonfidelcastro wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 11:04 pmYes, a bit of artistic licence with the dialogue, as I'm sure the 'F' word wasn't used in Georgian times, but it's certainly a gritty 'in your face' script.

The F-word
The f-word is of Germanic origin, related to Dutch, German, and Swedish words for “to strike” and “to move back and forth.” It first appears, though, only in the 16th century, in a manuscript of the Latin orator Cicero.
Cunny
Its first appearance in the Oxford English Dictionary was in 1972, which cites the word as having been in use from 1230 in what was supposedly a London street name of "Gropecunte Lane".

Re: Harlots - BBC2
It is a bit formulaic... in a far less, sub par Peaky Blinders way.
A sort of predictable time waste.
It should have been called "Peaky Boobies"

Demonstrates what a wonderful actress Lesley Manville is. Seen her many times in drama and comedy on TV but she has regularly been on radio 4 iin a variety of roles.

Lots of scheming and surviving!
Re: Harlots - BBC2
Just watched the first episode of the third series. A quick start, some tongue lashings from Emily and, yes, I'm back on it. Still don't understand the apparent allure of Lucy.
