Think yourself lucky. If you lived in Melbourne you'd be home under curfew from 9pm to 5am.

My word of the week (thanks Zlatan) is

Belm

Half a brain should make you think twice before even going to a pub at all.
I see a lockdown coming.

Yeah, let's all hide away in our houses forever. Unfortunately this virus is going to be around for a while. We have to learn to live with it and get on with our lives or hardly anyone is going to have a job or a life to go back to anyway.

There’s something between being a recluse and selfish behaviour. It’s called common sense and we need more of it until a vaccine is widely available.

It is strange isn't it. Just over 20 years ago you would have been out at 10.30 or 11pm until another bell end (at least where alcohol is concerned) created the free for all we now have increasing pressure on police, NHS and family life-I give you Tony Blair!!!!

Sadly if you do not have it-you never will.
Although when we say someone has common sense we usually imply they think and behave like us.

Possibly the most ridiculous comment made on this board for a fair while. The extension to drinking hours was decades overdue and any "increasing pressure" on the police and NHS is due to government cuts, nothing else.
I'm not sure how "family life" has suffered.

I was at the pub last night and, even though we're in a quiet village, we were turfed out at ten and under the current rules, quite rightly.
My gripe is that because of city centre pubs and restaurants allegedly not adhering to the rules, we all suffer.
Much fairer, I'd say, for the police - and army if necessary - to close down those and any other miscreant places rather than everywhere.

Are you unaware of the impact an alcoholic in the home has on family life Eddie?
Alcohol related illness has been on the rise for many years-DT's was a rarity on medical wards in the 70's and 80's
and now is more common than ever until the recent fall during lockdown which was accompanied by an increase in calls to AA for help and no doubt other self help organisations. I would also advise checking as to why drinking hours were introduced and ask yourself if you believe human behaviour has changed in 105 years.

Absolutely nothing wrong with those that decided to sit at a table in a local pub or bar until 10pm, why is that selfish behaviour?

There won’t be any pubs or bars left if nobody ever goes to them, although I doubt that will effect a lot of those complaining as I very much doubt they go out anyway.

I didn’t go out but to start labelling folk selfish for following government guidance is out of order.

If people just sat at tables and had waiter service and kept distance from others it would be ok. Sadly they are not. People going out for a meal in a quiet village pub shouldn’t be penalised by a bunch of 20 somethings going on a non socially distant **** up in a city centre pub. As soon as ‘drinking’ pubs opened up and the selfish had to have their annual **** up holiday abroad it was obvious cases would rise. An idiot could have seen that.

Those bunch of 20 somethings shouldn’t have to live in a world where racist, sexists, homophobic views are still used, where population, global warming is rife all because of older generations generally couldn’t give a **** about any of it.

So instead of just blaming young people for problems have a look at what the old coffin dodging generations generally did.

What an awful post. People should abide by social distancing rules. It’s been proved who and in which environments it’s being spread.

That's within households isn't it? Hence the current restrictions.
If you want evidence, look at the map of local stats. There are virtually no pubs or places where you can have social gatherings where the disease can spread in the areas of highest incidence.
(I'm not an habitual pub- goer by the way. I just went in during the "eat out" scheme.)

I'm aware of the impact an alcoholic in the home has on family life but I am also able to put the number of such alcoholics against ordinary drinkers into some kind of perspective.
I'd also argue that most alcoholics do not frequent pubs to drink when supermarkets and so on can offer alcohol for a fraction of the price.

There has been some offensive crap posted on here over the years but the above posting ranks among the worst.
If you want to know what "the old coffin dodging generations did" read a bloody book or two you moron!
Also, who decided that that generation is the "racist, sexist and homophobic" generation and that all the world's other issues are their fault?

They keep quoting figures like 320 per 100,000 but there's only about 70,000 people live in Burnley so thats around 300 cases. It's not good if you are one of those but people around the country will be thinking the town is doomed.

Just been up Colne for a few pints and it was absolutely dead for a Friday night. This 10pm curfew will finish off a lot of the hospitality industry over the winter if it isn't reviewed soon.
