I was on the Orient match and so am entitled to say ‘we were crap’ if I want to. It was part of the T+Cs for going on in 1987.
But happy for someone to point out the positives from tonight’s “performance”.

Yes lets pretend everything is rosy and hide behind the past good times. Why not bring the bad times of the 80s into it as well like many do? I'm far from panicking about two results. However the bigger picture is worrying unless there is some sort of investment.Dinks wrote: ↑Sat Sep 26, 2020 10:02 pmAll the success.all the good times,we lose two games and this board is going to go into meltdown blaming Garlick,Dyche, the players, the tea ladies let them get on with it keep calm, its best to not log in if you have nothing positive to say about the club,i think thid forum is best avoided for a few days....night lads, enjoy yourselves.

The one thing that is certain after a disappointing performance is that you will get a ridiculous overreaction from some posters on this board. I've learned now, I stay away in the main, post my player ratings and let them get on with it.
We know things aren't perfect at the club right now but they are no better or worse than they were at tea time, we've just played poorly, albeit no worse than Southampton, and lost.

I think when things are as fractious as they are behind the scenes and then a performance like tonights is thrown into the mix it creates the "perfect storm" for the more disillusioned to have a go. Then you throw the happy clappers into the mix like the OP and it all kicks off.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Sep 26, 2020 10:33 pmThe one thing that is certain after a disappointing performance is that you will get a ridiculous overreaction from some posters on this board. The question is, to what extent is the obvious disharmony that currently exists within the club affecting these performances.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Sep 26, 2020 10:33 pmThe one thing that is certain after a disappointing performance is that you will get a ridiculous overreaction from some posters on this board. I don't suppose any of us know the answer but in the past after a disappointing performance you were always confident there'd be a reaction in the next game. Doesn't feel like that now.

It’s all about perspective and many Burnley fans just don’t have this, especially the premier league Burnley fans who are waiting for our £50m signing.
Imagine being a UTD fan with a billion £ squad, relying on the ref to beat Brighton.
Chelsea spending more on this window than Burnley in all our windows and 3-0 to west Brom.

Dyche has turned into Moyes.
Originally it was all about the group and the resources and making the best out of it, now he just blames injuries, the chairman etc.
If he is not happy and feels his professional integrity is being compromised he should go.

I think perspective went out the window a very, very long time ago.

Well it was a bad result for them starting at 0-0 but from being 3-0 down at 1 point & still managing to somehow gain a draw away from home it turned out ok, they will be happier than WBA with the point, it could well turn out at the end of the season if WBA get relegated they'll look back at that game.Burnleyareback2 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 26, 2020 11:05 pmSaw the final result, but with 200m of new signings in the summer adding to the rest of that squad, personally I’d be disappointed being 3 down at WBA

I think the position we find ourselves in is absolutely appalling considering we’ve been a PL club for 6 years. The blame lies at the door of one man and it’s not Dyche.
I have never seen a club look so desperate to return to the Championship, our bench today has to be the worst bench in PL history, how can you excuse leaving our greatest ever manager so woefully short?
Also if Tarkowski isn’t injured and trying to force a move, F**k him too!!

Yup, agreed. Said pretty much exactly that on the takeover thread. Hope this takeover works out well if it happens, but people are deluded if they think it'll mean a significant expansion of the wage bill, and to be honest I'd be getting a little bit worried if it actually meant that, state of football as it is: no matchday revenue due to covid, lack of clarity over international broadcast revenue etc, both of which could possibly create a huge transfer market depression, undermining this whole ambitious (I'd say arrogant) enterprise of profiting from player sales to generate return on investment, rather than striving for sustainability.Burnleyareback2 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 26, 2020 11:09 pmSilver Bullet is the term of the week. If we'd been running a squad of 25 and more for the last 6 years as you presumably want, then we certainly wouldn't have spare cash to invest.

Re: This board
When did I mention 25 or more? We have 10 outfield senior players fit and 2 goalkeepers. If you don’t think we are short, this conversation is pointless.
Re: This board
We're short because they're all bloody injured. You said it yourself.
Re: This board
We knew Lennon Hart and Hendrick were leaving months ago. Cork and Mee have been injured since before the transfer window opened. Barnes hasn’t played since when? January? Brady and Gudmundsson can’t stay fit and haven’t produced since when?
You’re making excuses but when that transfer window opened we were desperately short, we remain desperately short....

Re: This board
You not remember Dyche going ballistic a few months ago when 3 players walked out of the club and he had to beg them to offer Bardsley a deal ?
The way the club has been run particularly in the last year has been shambolic, it's only testament to the manager and the players that we are in the PL.
Re: This board
Lennon and Hart were beyond shyte for us and we've lost literally nothing by them leaving, so don't give me that b0llocks. I think we need two players, as I've mentioned above (or on another thread, I'm not sure), but the depletion in the squad is because of an injury crisis. You don't spend your way out of those, or at least not without expanding the wage bill to levels teetering on 'concerning'. Are all you dunces ignoring the whole pandemic situation? For the umpteenth time there's literally zero matchday revenue and international broadcast revenue has been readjusted.KRBFC wrote: ↑Sat Sep 26, 2020 11:56 pmWe knew Lennon Hart and Hendrick were leaving months ago. Re: This board
We have a squad of 20 senior players, not counting Dunne. If that is woefully short, then you must be asking for a significantly bigger squad - my guess was 25; perhaps you had a different number in mind.
But you must have meant that you want a permanent bigger squad. You know that we can't have short term loans, so if we had say 5 more players then that means a permanent squad of 25. If you think we currently should have 8 more players, then that means a permanent squad of 28. And so forth.
I would say 22 would be about right. That would be 2 more. I'm not in favour of signing long term contracts to replace players with short term injuries.

Re: This board
for me it's not so much about quantity, it's about quality and Garlick clearly is reluctant to fork out for it - no point having 8 players out of 25 that aren't good enough because we end up exactly where we are nowdsr wrote: ↑Sun Sep 27, 2020 12:21 amWe have a squad of 20 senior players, not counting Dunne. Re: This board
I’m with you on this. Once those injured get back the squad looks entirely different. Take Barnes for one, had he been fit for the past 6 months, Vydra imho wouldn’t be here now. I know I can’t back that up but his game time would be significantly less than what it as been since the Barnes has been injured. The only doubt about the defence is Tarkowski, is he going is he staying. Look at injuries Tarkowski, Mee, no football club in world football has 2 CH like for like replacements. Dunne/Long are perfectly acceptable. Both a step down obviously but either of those alongside either of Tarkowski or Mee is fine. A better option would be better and my preference but not a biggie. Once Cork is fit CM is perfectly fine. We could do with a wide man and the forwards are fine.dsr wrote: ↑Sun Sep 27, 2020 12:21 amWe have a squad of 20 senior players, not counting Dunne. We’re a wide man, CH short imho. McNeill got his chance through injuries, lack of options and it really could be the making of some younger lads. Dunne for one. Give him 6/7/8 games alongside Mee or Tarkowski.
