Re: Last Man Standing Competition
Thanks everyone for the interest.
I'm just checking on the legalities of it, whether we would be permitted to run this without some sort of gambling license and if so whether there would be a limit on the numbers joining. It does help having a club director running a company who know about these things.
If we get the go ahead then I'll get it launched.

Re: Last Man Standing Competition
Sounds like a great idea, count me in. I know its far fetched, but what happens if it reaches a point where you have chosen every team and they have all won? Do you go back to the start with a full range of teams to choose from?

Stick £5 on the first team you select, if it wins stick your original stake an winnings on the next selection and continue, if the far fetched scenario occurs and you have 20 winning consecutive selections you won't be arsed what happens with your original go on here

Re: Last Man Standing Competition
There are apps for Last man standing with companies that sort everything out for you but they take about 20% of the money. I presume they would have a gambling licence if needed?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2020 11:24 amThanks everyone for the interest.

Or here is a free app to look at for help. http://lastmanapp.com/ for I phone only.
Others might know of better ones. That was found off a quick google.

My workplace did this last season and we used the following free website which co-ordinates everything, sends email reminders to participants etc. It's very basic but does the job.

Tony - I'm now up to 10 people interested.
Re: Last Man Standing Competition
So you would be out if your team draws?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 3:52 pmThis is an idea of raising a few more pounds for the foodbank and I'm just gauging interest.
Basically
1. You pay a fiver to join - half goes to the foodbank and half in prize money.
2. You have to select a team in the Premier League who you think will win that weekend.
3. If your team doesn't win, you're out, but if it does win then you go through to the next week with the same process although you would not be allowed to select a team you have previously selected.
4. This continues until there is one person left standing who takes the prize fund.
No plans to start it for this weekend, just not enough time, but if enough interest will get it started for after the international break.
if you would be interested in joining, please add your name to this thread - it won't be limited to the message board, the more the merrier to get the prize bigger and therefore the foodbank benefiting more.

Re: Last Man Standing Competition
As I thought, once it had been advertised away from this message board it became subject to a licence.
However, we will be able to include it alongside the First Goal Sweep with MLL Development Association so it is all systems go.
I'll get things started tomorrow so look out for it and will get the rules together so that everyone knows how to play and when they have to get their team choice in each week.

Re: Last Man Standing Competition
Sorry to bother you Tony, but I wonder whether you could get this up and running by this time tomorrow.
I'd very much like to enter, but I'm going on holiday tomorrow morning to a cottage with no wi-fi, so I'll have no internet for a week.

Re: Last Man Standing Competition
Not going to be possible this week unfortunately. There would be a lot involved in ensuring everyone's chosen teams were sent in. I think it is best left now until the next international break which gives me more time from launch to getting ready for the games. I'll try to get it organised to launch early in w/c 9th November.lakedistrictclaret wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2020 10:57 amSorry to bother you Tony, but I wonder whether you could get this up and running by this time tomorrow.

Re: Last Man Standing Competition
Can now confirm that Last Man Standing will launch at 10 a.m. on Monday 9th November. This will allow plenty of time for people to join, get their teams in and for us to be organised for week 1 which will be the weekend of 21st November.
