I wonder if we might see a new deal being signed....
I'd be amazed if he did, I'm sure we've already tried. Realistically if he's got any ambition to further his career he needs to be moving on soon.

I would wish him no harm if he did. 6 years service, would go with my best wishes. May have no choice if we get to next summer anyway.
Yeah, if he gives us another good season this year I wouldn't begrudge him a decent move either. Obviously I'd do all we can to keep him longer but I can't see it.

He’d be mad to stay at Burnley if it’s Leicester on the hunt, potentially double your wage for the next 4 years, play champions league football, possibly reach cup finals, nice signing on fee, hopefully make the England squad again etc.. he can always come back here when he’s 32, I’d have him back ;)

Very likely to be worth less next summer certainly, but perhaps worth more come January? - I noted that the report stated "he will be there at the end of the transfer window", so not a long term commitment.
However, should JT still be with us come next summer, then without a very good offer we might be tempted into trying to keep him until the end of his contract in 2022? As 20%+ of any sale fee would go to Brentford, but nothing would be lost/owed to Brentford should he ultimately walk for free.

Happy days, and wonder if any of those 4 will be ready for weekend. I guess we might find out more at 3:15pm.
I thought he was meant to be ready for Millwall?

It seems Leicester never wanted him, put a bid in (knowing it would be rejected) in order to push through a deal for their number 1 target, Fofana.

That is big news. Would imagine the return to training is linked to Leicester and WHU communicating defeat to his agent. Helpful that the offers were derisory because even JT couldn't expect us to accept £30m with the sell-on clause. Ake's gone for £40m in a Covid scenario and Maguire and VVD over twice as much. Can't expect us to sell him on the cheap.

Do agree that a new contract sounds unlikely, but could there be one that cuts him in to any sale above a certain level? Gives him some more money immediately, security for another 2 years, plus a share of the fee if he is sold (which presumably he wouldn't get this year/next were he to leave. Doesn't sound an awful deal?

Do agree but as per above I'm sure we could find a way to make it attractive to him to sign a deal where he is cut in to any future move fees?

Good to see he is back in training. Will be nice and fit for the rest of the season for Leicester or west ham.
Personally I would have him training on his own until he goes. Feels like when Ings or Shackell left this does.
