That is weird I must admit, surely it shouldn't be that difficult to differentiate between a specific covid related death, and someone who tests positive for covid self-isolates, and then is unlucky hit by a bus a few weeks later, I don't see how that can feasibly be recorded as a covid death, now whether that in itself would make a huge difference to the overall numbers is debatable, because the suspicion is that during the initial outbreak many people particularly in care homes are suspected to have tragically passed away with covid, but due to the fact they didn't get tested, then they won't go down as a covid death.nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 11:35 pmAs I understand it it's registered as a Covid death if it's within 28 days.
That's too mad for words, but allegedly true.

I suggest you all do research on how side effects are listed for drugs in the US.............. (I've no idea if it's the same for the UK)

It really doesn't.
In the same way that Boris Johnson's various racist comments down the years didn't damage him.

The popular vote isn't going to be a problem. Biden will wwin that by like 10m+ votes.tiger76 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 4:53 pmThe Democrats should win the popular vote, however they need to ensure they capture enough swing states to make those votes count, there's no point piling up votes in California, if they aren't flipping the target states, you'd hope they'd have learnt their lessons from 2016, and if they have, and they can turn enough of their voters out, Joe Biden should be the next POTUS, but although Trump is behind in the polls, and he didn't cover himself in glory during the first debate, it's dangerous to write him off, as he's won against the odds before, I don't detect the same reluctance amongst swing voters to not vote for Biden this time though, even if they see him as the least worst option of the 2 candidates, Trump is appealing to his base, but I doubt if that will be enough to secure him a 2nd term on current polling.
The problem for Democrats is that even if they win states like Florida, Ohio, Texas (yeah, Texas is close) those wins might not matter because Trump's campaign is lobbying states like those who have entirely Republican legislatures to rewrite the rules on how their electors are appointed so that Trump loyalists can be the ones who cast those electoral college votes. And they'll justify it by saying the popular vote was corrupted by fraudulent mail-in ballots. This is the coup they're counting on. And when they say the election will be decided by the supreme court, this is what the supreme court will be deciding on.

I really don't give a toss whether he recovers or not. None of my empathy is wasted on him. Anyone who refuses to wear masks, and mocks others for doing so deserves to catch it.

Nah. That's not nutty, that's just selectively lacking any empathy whatsoever for a piece of human filth who did nothing while thousands died because they were dying in states that opposed him. I'd have gloated when Hitler shot himself. I don't think you'd have minded that. This is that.

Granted he isn't 1945s Hitler yet, but then I'm not laughing at him dying. Yet. I'm laughing at him catching a virus he acted like he was immune to and told others around him to act that way too.

I'm struggling with the comparison to Hitler to be honest.
You'll have to let me know where Trump has stashed his extermination camps.

You can feel sorry for him if you like, darthlaw. There's nothing wrong with that. You do you mate. I'm not gonna judge you for sympathising with a fascist. We're all anti-fascists here, no doubt. Right? Some of us can still have sympathy for some of them. I'm just not one of those people anymore. My sympathy goes towards people who I think deserve it. And I'll laugh in the face of those who don't. Well, not in Trump's face. I might catch something.
Re: The Bud Fight, sorry Presidential Debate
Nonsense.
It might be an extreme view, but you can understand why he’s gloating. I’m pretty conflicted about the news myself - it’s obviously sad when anyone catches a life-threatening virus, but think how many Trump devotees there are who were convinced the whole thing is a hoax, but may just be having second thoughts now. In many ways, this news could save a lot of lives.
It’s certainly not comparable to the Pizzagate type conspiracy theories espoused by HaHaYeah.

I'm similar to you, in being conflicted, and would suggest your description is exactly where I sit. That is regardless as much as nutty Pete wants to paint me as some Trump sympathiser.

I think it's pretty obvious why I find it hilarious that Trump caught Covid. For the whole crisis he's been telling people not to wear masks, and mocking anyone who does. On Tuesday he mocked Biden for wearing masks so often. And now he has Covid because he and his idiots didn't wear masks. That's funny as **** to me. I'm not saying I hope he dies (don't ask because I won't answer ) I'm just finding the Irony and the karma of his hubris pretty ******* funny.
But hey, you go ahead and feel sorry for him. Nothing wrong with that.
Re: The Bud Fight, sorry Presidential Debate
I think you have nailed it there. If you genuinely think that Trump is Hitler, or even has the same ends (and means of achieving them) as Hitler, then you are going to celebrate his illness.
If any of us believed our next door neighbour was Jack the Ripper, then we would probably celebrate if he became ill. It would say a lot more about us than about him, of course.

Just in case anyone thinks it is because of political views, I was genuinely worried for Johnson when it looked like his life was in serious danger. But Johnson isn't Trump.

Re: The Bud Fight, sorry Presidential Debate
Not even.
This morning I have answered your question about who I thought was on the opposite end of Hahayeah, with an example as to why.
After that I've suggested Pete is a bit nuts for gloating about the ill health of someone. Hardly an attack, more a reasonable observation. Even if you did construe them as attacks, of the six posts I've made this morning two mentioned Pete.
So it was badly worded in that I havent spent 'a lot' of my time, nor 'attacking' nor 'people' in the plural sense as I've only mentioned Pete.
Other than that, you were spot on.

Re: The Bud Fight, sorry Presidential Debate
Whether you want him alive or dead is immaterial, the reason this virus has killed 1,000,000 people worldwide is because those we elected to lead us didn't take it seriously enough, and in some cases (Trump, Johnson, the lad in Brazil) have actively played a part in their countries being amongst the worst hit.
Do I want him to die? No
Do I want him to suffer, and maybe go through some of what the 200,000 of his own citizens went through before they died? No
Would it be karma or justice if he did? Yes
Will it make him less of a fascist either way? No
Spare me the hand wringing lads btw, its laughable
