Pope
Bardsley Tarkowski Dunne Taylor
Brady/JBG/Pieters Brownhill Westwood McNeil
Wood Barnes

JBG is my preference if fit. If not then reluctantly Brady.

JBG/Brady both look to be out, so didn't include them.

This. There's not a lot of choice, really:-
Dunne or long
Vydra or barnes
Peters or Stevens.

Any other options seem unlikely. Vydra coming on for Barnes would probably work better than Barnes coming on for vyds. St. Maximim is injured which means pieters/bardsley probably marking joelinton. Westwood will need to cope with almiron. Our first point in a 0-0.

No way should Barnes start after only 1 game. Be extremely harsh on Vydra. The rest of the team picks itself though.

Reckon its 90% certain he will do. Dyche clearly has his favourites, whereas some players have to work extra hard to keep their place and always seem to get dragged off first no matter what.

same team as RVclaret. Give Barnes a run out off the bench for the last 20 minutes if we need a different option.

Same for me. I would drop Long for Dunne. We aren't exactly loaded with a wealth of options!

I can see the argument to start Vydra and if it is Vydra/Wood then that's fair enough.

Pope
Bardsley Tarks Dunne Taylor
Pieters Westwood Brownhill McNeil
Wood Vydra

I'm happy we got Stephens, but putting him in the middle to shove Brownhill on the wing would be another massive mistake

Lascelles is doubtful, so there might be a shout for Wood and Barnes up front, bring Vydra on when Ash has softened them up a bit.

Pieters is a very good left back but he isn't a midfield player.

I'd go 4-1-3-2 with Stephens protecting the back four which would allow more attacking options for Brownhill and Westwood.

--------------Pope
Bardsley - Long - Tarks - Taylor
------------Stephens
Brownhill - Westwood - McNeil
--------Vydra------ Wood

Why shouldn't Barnes start. Newcastle have injuries so our main hope is start with Wood/Barnes. Unfortunately Vydra has had ample chances-despite starting in most post lock down games he did not score once in the PL during these 9 or 10 games. Needs too many chances and easily marked out of games, resulting in him being subbed. Just not a serious PL striker

Pope
Bardsley
Long
Tarks
Taylor
McNeil
Westwood
Stephens
Brownhill
Barnes
Wood

Brownhill isn't a winger

I don't disagree about Pieters, the real solution is to play the left winger from the U23s, it doesn't matter how good he is, if he is the best fit option we have, he should play.

As others have mentioned, Vydra is a good striker, who thrives on balls into the channels, or playing off the shoulder of his marker. Sadly we aren't playing to his strengths so he ends up feeding off scraps. He has missed a few, but so has Wood and JayRod. There's nothing wrong with Vyds that a midfielder with an eye for a pass couldn't cure.

Its times like these, I think we should be maybe looking at a different set up, we are stuggling for wingers so why play a system with wingers? Think we all know we will line up 4-4-2 as normal but why not try something like a back 3 with wing backs, give Taylor chance to get up and down the left wing, play McNeil behind the two strikers and licence to roam, Brownhill and Westwood the two centre mids. We simply just don't try anything different.

4-4-2 it'll be though.....

I'd say now is the time to stick to what we know and what's been proven to work. I'd only want us trying lots of weird and wonderful formations when we're safe.

Time to be picking Dunne over Long if they think he's the future.

Long is dependable but Dunne needs the experience.

When we safe? If surely?
Last week vs Saints was shocking, can't see whats going to change this week with essentially just one change to the side.

Barnsey scores more than MV. I desperately want Matěj to score and do well but he's still to do it enough.
